Summary: Unguentum Zinci Lexer Sr is an ointment for application to the skin containing the active ingredient zinc oxide. It is used for the treatment of acute and subacute skin conditions as zinc oxide has covering-protective and secretion-binding properties. The ointment should not be used if you are allergic to zinc, wool wax alcohols or other components of the ointment. In addition, large-scale applications on skin areas larger than 20% of the body surface should be avoided. The ointment can be used during pregnancy and lactation in compliance with the dosage instructions, although large-area application should be avoided, especially on the breasts of breastfeeding women. It is important to completely remove residues containing zinc oxide before applying other dermatics, as this may impair their effect. The ointment is applied several times a day to the affected skin areas and can be covered with gauze if necessary. There is no time limit on the duration of application. Possible side effects are skin redness and flushing as well as skin inflammation in case of hypersensitivity to wool wax alcohols. Accidental ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting, gastritis and fever, especially in children. If side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted. The preparation should not be used after the expiry date and should be used within 3 months after opening. It should be kept out of reach of children and residual suspension should be washed off and not rubbed off so as not to irritate the skin. In addition to zinc oxide, the ointment also contains yellow vaseline, kaleun oil, sorbitan trioleate GOT, lanolin alcohols and purified water as further ingredients.
