Mode of action

If you have diarrhea, the charcoal comprettes bind water and solidify the stool.In the event of poisoning, the toxins are bound, preventing their absorption and accelerating their excretion.This leads to a rapid improvement in the symptoms.

Each tablet contains 250 mg of medicinal charcoal as the active ingredient.The excipients include bentonite, corn starch and 0.006 BE carbohydrates.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur to all medicines, in which case the intake must be stopped immediately.If you are known to be allergic to the active ingredient or one of the other ingredients, the medication must not be used.It should not be taken in case of diarrhea with fever or in case of poisoning with corrosive substances.

Dosage

For diarrhea: Adults take 2-4 tablets 3-4 times a day, children 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day.In case of poisoning, adults receive 2-4 tablets per kilogram of body weight, children 3-4 tablets per kilogram of body weight.The intake can be repeated at intervals of 24 hours.Sodium sulfate (Glauber salt) can also be taken.

Intake

If you have diarrhea, the tablets should be taken on an empty stomach with plenty of liquid.They can be left to disintegrate in water or taken whole with liquid.In the case of poisoning, the tablets are dissolved in water to form a paste and taken in small sips.

Patient information

The tablets should be taken until the stool normalizes.If there is no improvement after about 3 days, a doctor should be informed.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medication should only be taken after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Notes

If you are unconscious, the tablets suspended in water should be administered through a stomach tube.Medicinal charcoal is not effective for poisoning with certain salts and solvents.In many cases, a specific antidote is also required.
