Area of application

Micotar is an antifungal medicine used for the external treatment of fungal skin diseases.It is active against various skin fungi, trichomonas and certain gram-positive bacteria such as staphylococci and streptococci.The cream is used for fungal infections between the toes, the skin and skin folds, and for superficial yeast infections.It is suitable for infants, children and adults.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

Micotar contains the active ingredient miconazole nitrate.One gram of the cream contains 20 milligrams of miconazole nitrate.The cream also contains the following ingredients: benzoic acid (E210), macrogol stearate 1500, macrogol glycerol oleate (Ph. Eur.), thick paraffin and purified water.

Dosage

Before each use, the affected skin areas should be washed thoroughly and dried carefully.The cream is applied twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening, to the affected skin and the surrounding skin area (approx. 1 to 2 cm).If both powder and cream are used, it is recommended to use both dosage forms once daily.

The average duration of treatment is 2 to 6 weeks.The signs of the fungal infection usually disappear within the first 7 days after starting treatment.If the symptoms do not disappear within this time, a visit to the doctor is necessary.To prevent recurrence, treatment should be continued until the fungal culture is negative, but at least one week after all symptoms disappear.There should be a treatment-free period of 3 to 4 days between the last application and the creation of a fungal culture.

Intake

The cream should be massaged in with your finger until it is absorbed.After using the cream, hands should be washed thoroughly, except when treating hands.

Contraindications

Micotar should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Micotar.The preparation is intended for external use only and must not be taken.Avoid contact with eyes.In the event of hypersensitivity reactions or irritation, treatment should be discontinued.

If you are taking oral anticoagulants such as warfarin, stop using Micotar immediately and seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist if you experience unexpected bleeding or bruising.Close monitoring of International Normalized Ratio (INR) values is required during treatment with Micotar.

When treating the genital or anal area, the excipients contained in the treatment and the simultaneous use of latex condoms can lead to a reduction in tear resistance and thus to an impairment of the safety of condoms.

The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only use Micotar after consulting a doctor.

There are no data available as to whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.Please do not use the cream on the breast area while breastfeeding to avoid direct contact of the infant with the cream.
