Information for use with the article Cormagnesin 200 ampoules: Cormagnesin 200 is a solution for injection containing the active substance magnesium sulphate heptahydrate. It is used in cases of magnesium deficiency causing disturbances in muscle activity and when oral therapy is not possible. It is also used in the treatment of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. The dosage depends on the severity of the magnesium deficiency or on the need. Cormagnesin 200 is injected slowly intravenously and the injection should be repeated at 1 to 2 day intervals. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. Cormagnesin 200 ampoules should be stored away from heat and inaccessible to children. The medicine should not be used after the expiry date which is stated on the container. The package leaflet should be read before use. Side effects such as slow pulse, drop in blood pressure, nausea, headache and skin reactions may occur. In the event of an overdose, a doctor should be contacted immediately.
