What is Magnesiocard i.v.and what is it used for?

Magnesiocard i.v.contains the active ingredient magnesium aspartate hydrochloride 3 H2O.It is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency, if this causes neuromuscular disorders or leg cramps and oral therapy is not possible.

What do you need to do before using Magnesiocard i.v.observe?

Magnesiocard i.v.must not be used if you are hypersensitive to magnesium aspartate hydrochloride 3 H2O or any of the other ingredients, if you have AV-block or other cardiac conduction disorders, if you have severe kidney dysfunction, if there is an inhibition of excretion, if the body is dehydrated, if you have myasthenia gravis or if you have a tendency to develop infectious stones.

Particular caution is required in patients with renal impairment.The intravenous injection must be carried out very slowly with the patient lying down.Severe symptoms of fatigue after high doses or long-term administration indicate an excessive serum magnesium level; in this case, the dose should be reduced or the medication should be temporarily discontinued.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines, as interactions are possible.Magnesiocard i.v.can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.No special precautions are required when driving or using machines.

How is Magnesiocard i.v.to apply?

Use Magnesiocard i.v.Always follow the instructions in this leaflet exactly.The dosage depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency.For chronic magnesium deficiency, treatment over 4 weeks is recommended.1 ampoule of 10 ml is slowly injected intravenously every 1 to 2 days.

Handling the OPC-ampoules: Point upwards, allow the solution to flow downwards by tapping or shaking, break off the ampoule skewer downwards.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Magnesiocard can be administered i.v.have side effects, but not everyone has them.Very rarely, bradycardia, conduction disorders, peripheral vasodilatation, feeling of warmth, flushing, nausea, vomiting, headache, tingling, sweating, severe dizziness, dry mouth, agitation, excitement and tremor may occur.

Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if any of the side effects listed seriously affects you or if you notice any side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.

How is Magnesiocard i.v.to keep?

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.Store away from light.You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and the ampoule label.
