Cormagnesin® 400: High-dose magnesium as an injection

Magnesium deficiency is common but difficult to detect.Cormagnesin® 400 should be used to treat magnesium deficiency if it is the cause of muscle activity disorders and oral therapy is not possible.For this purpose, an intravenous (IV) administration makes sense: the active ingredient reaches the bloodstream immediately and in full.Cormagnesin® 400 contains high doses of magnesium, enters the bloodstream directly and quickly reaches the site of action.It is vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free and gelatin-free.

Area of application

Cormagnesin® 400 ampoules are used for magnesium deficiency if it is the cause of muscle activity disorders and oral therapy is not possible.It is also used to treat preeclampsia and eclampsia.No prescription is required for this product.

The active ingredient in Cormagnesin® 400 ampoules is magnesium sulfate heptahydrate.One 10 ml ampoule of solution for injection contains 4.095 g of magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, which corresponds to 2000 mg of magnesium sulfate.This corresponds to 16.6 mmol magnesium or 33.2 mval magnesium, i.e. 403.8 mg magnesium.The other ingredients are water for injection purposes and 96% sulfuric acid for pH adjustment.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to individual ingredients, Cormagnesin® 400 ampoules should not be used.

Dosage

The recommended use for Cormagnesin® 400 ampoules is to slowly inject one ampoule intravenously (IV).The intravenous injection must be given very slowly with the patient lying down, with the first 3 ml administered in 3 minutes.The injection of one ampoule should be repeated every 1 to 2 days.The dosage depends on the severity of the magnesium deficiency or the level of need.
