-30% Apocanda cream, 50 g

Instructions for use for Apocanda cream, 50 g

Area of application

Apocanda cream is a medicine for the treatment of fungal diseases (mycoses) of the skin and mucous membranes. The active ingredient clotrimazole penetrates the affected skin layers and fights the fungi there. This kills the fungi or inhibits their growth.

The cream is used to treat fungal infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and other pathogens such as Malassezia furfur.Skin infections caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum can also be treated. These include:

Mycoses of the feet, between toes and fingers, on the nail fold and in connection with nail mycoses.Skin diseases that are also infected with pathogens sensitive to clotrimazole.Mycoses of the skin and skin folds, superficial candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor (bran fungus), infections with Corynebacterium minutissimum (erythrasma) and seborrheic dermatitis with microbial involvement of the pathogens mentioned.

Infections of the labia and surrounding areas caused by yeast (Candida vulvitis).Inflammation of the glans and foreskin in men caused by yeast fungi (Candida balanitis).

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

10 mg clotrimazole (active ingredient).(RS)-2-Octyldodecan-1-ol (excipient).Cetyl palmitate (excipient).100 mg cetostearyl alcohol (excipient).15 mg polysorbate 60 (excipient).Sorbitan stearate (excipient).Purified water (excipient).10 mg benzyl alcohol (excipient).

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

The recommended dose is: Apply the cream thinly to the affected areas 2 - 3 times a day and rub in.A strand of ointment approximately ½ cm long is usually sufficient for an area approximately the size of a palm.

If the woman's labia is infected (Candida vulvitis) and adjacent areas, apply the cream 2 - 3 times a day to the relevant skin areas (external genitals up to the anus).

The cream is also recommended for the simultaneous treatment of inflammation of the partner's glans and foreskin (Candida balanitis) caused by yeast fungi.

The duration of treatment depends, among other things, on the extent and location of the disease. In order to achieve complete healing, the treatment should not be stopped after the symptoms have subsided, but should be continued consistently for a duration of at least 4 weeks.

Pityriasis versicolor generally heals in 1 - 3 weeks and erythrasma in 2 - 4 weeks.

In the case of athlete's foot - in order to prevent relapses - treatment should be continued for approx. 2 weeks after all signs of the disease have disappeared, despite rapid subjective improvement.

Candida vulvitis and Candida balanitis heal in 1 - 2 weeks.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the cream is too strong or too weak.

The consequences of using too large amounts of the cream are not known;there are no reports on this.

Next time, do not use a larger amount of the cream, but continue the treatment as recommended.

In order to achieve complete healing of the fungal infection and prevent a relapse, you should not stop or interrupt the treatment prematurely without consulting your doctor. If you do this anyway, there is a risk that the symptoms will return because your fungal infection has probably not yet healed properly. You should not stop the treatment after the symptoms have subsided, but rather continue it consistently (as recommended under “Duration of use”).

If you have any further questions about using this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

Apply the cream thinly to the affected skin areas 2 - 3 times a day and rub in.

Before each use, you should wash the affected skin areas so that the loose skin flakes are removed.Afterwards you should dry the skin thoroughly.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the cream.

If the cream is used in the genital area and latex products (e.g. condoms, diaphragms) at the same time, the functionality of these products may be reduced due to the excipients they contain and thus the safety of these products may be impaired. The effect is temporary and only occurs during treatment.

The cream has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

There is only a limited amount of data available on the use of clotrimazole in pregnant women. If you use the cream as described in the package leaflet or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist, only a very small amount of the active ingredient clotrimazole will be absorbed into the body;A systemic effect (effect on other organs) is therefore not to be expected. For reasons of caution, clotrimazole should only be used during pregnancy after consultation and under the guidance of a doctor.

Because of the low absorption when applied topically, the cream can be used during breastfeeding if used as directed. The cream should not be used directly on the breast area while breastfeeding.

There are no studies on the influence of clotrimazole on fertility in humans.

Notes

Careful personal care should be taken, e.g. changing linen regularly, to support healing.Do not get the medicine into your eyes.

No prescription is required for this product.
