Instructions for use of the article POLYSEPT SALBE Polysept Ointment contains the active substance povidone-iodine and is used as an antiseptic for damaged skin. It can be used for various skin diseases such as decubitus ulcers, ulcus cruris, superficial wounds, burns and infected skin diseases. Before using Polysept Ointment, certain contraindications should be considered. These include an allergy to iodine or other components of the medicinal product, hyperthyroidism, dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring and radioiodine therapy of the thyroid gland. Caution is advised in certain conditions such as benign goitre or thyroid autonomy. The ointment is applied to the affected skin area(s) and can be used several times a day. The duration of application depends on the resolution of the symptoms and should usually not exceed 5 days. In case of overdose, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms may occur, so medical consultation is advisable. Polysept Ointment should not be used on infants under 6 months of age unless recommended by a doctor. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of the medicine should also only be done according to a doctor's instructions and in an extremely limited way.
