This medicine is suitable for binding excess stomach acid.It contains the active ingredient magaldrate and belongs to the group of antacids.No prescription is required for this product.

Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg chewable tablets are used to treat symptoms of diseases in which stomach acid is supposed to be bound.These include heartburn and acid-related stomach problems as well as the symptomatic treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcers.

Because it's easy to take, it's ideal for on the go.The chewable tablets taste pleasantly of caramel.

One chewable tablet contains 800 mg of magaldrate as the active ingredient.The medicine contains sorbitol, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide and caramel flavor as other ingredients.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to Magaldrat or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults and children over 12 years of age can take 1 to 2 chewable tablets several times a day if necessary.The daily dose should not exceed 8 chewable tablets, corresponding to 6400 mg Magaldrate.

The medicine should only be taken for short-term treatment of your symptoms.If the symptoms persist for longer than 2 weeks during treatment, you should consult your doctor.Persistent and/or recurring symptoms could be an indication of a serious illness.

If you have taken more than you should, you should consult your doctor for advice.In the event of an overdose, changes in stool behavior such as softening of stools and an increase in stool frequency may occur.

If you forget to take a dose, simply take your normal dose at the next time you take it.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.

If you stop taking it, you should talk to your doctor, especially if this is due to side effects.

Intake

The chewable tablets are easy to chew and are then washed down with a little liquid or can also be sucked.

Patient information

Take special care when taking it if you suffer from kidney problems or require dialysis, suffer from Alzheimer's or another form of dementia, are on a phosphate diet, suffer from impaired bone metabolism or are under 12 years old.Please ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice before taking if one of the diseases mentioned applies to you.

The medicine has negligible or no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

The benefit-risk ratio should be carefully weighed before taking aluminum-containing drugs to bind excess stomach acid during pregnancy.If you are pregnant, you should only use the medicine for a short time to avoid exposing your unborn child to aluminum.

Aluminum compounds pass into breast milk.There is no risk to the newborn as only very small amounts are absorbed.

Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.

Notes

In the case of stomach or duodenal ulcers, an examination for certain bacteria (Helicobacter pylori) and, if proven, a recognized treatment to destroy these bacteria should be considered, as the ulcers usually heal if they are successfully combated.

If there is impaired kidney function and long-term use of high doses, aluminum can be stored, especially in the nerve and bone tissue, and phosphate depletion can occur.Even in people with healthy kidneys, slightly elevated blood levels of aluminum have occasionally been found.Aluminum blood levels should be checked regularly for long-term use.

If symptoms persist for a long time and/or recur more frequently, a serious illness such as an ulcer or cancer should be ruled out.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
