Directions for use of the article Magaldrat ratiopharm 800 mg Tablets Important information (compulsory information): Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg chewable tablets. Active substance: Magaldrat. Indications: For heartburn and acid-related stomach complaints. Warning: Contains sorbitol. What is Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg and what is it used for? Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg contains magaldrate and belongs to the group of medicines called antacids, which are used to bind excess stomach acid. It is used to treat symptoms of conditions where stomach acid needs to be bound, such as heartburn and acid-related stomach complaints and stomach or duodenal ulcers. How should Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg be taken? Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 chewable tablet (equivalent to 800 mg Magaldrate) several times a day if needed. The daily dose should not exceed 8 chewable tablets (corresponding to 6400 mg Magaldrate). The chewable tablets should be sucked or well chewed. The medicine should not be taken for more than 14 days without medical advice. How should Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg be stored? Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not store it above 30 °C. Do not dispose of the medicine in the waste water and ask your pharmacy how to dispose of it. What Magaldrat-ratiopharm® 800 mg contains: The active substance is magaldrate. Each chewable tablet contains 800 mg of magaldrate. Other ingredients are sorbitol, magnesium stearate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide and caramel flavouring. Mode of action: The active substances bind and neutralise stomach acid. They are effective against heartburn, belching and other acid-related stomach complaints. They also reduce the risk of ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract. Side effects: Soft stools may occur as a side effect. You should contact your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any symptoms or changes during treatment. Important information: Note that the medicinal product contains sorbitol and caution is advised in case of intolerance to fructose. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you are taking. Lemonade, fruit juices and citric acid should not be taken with this medicine.
