Vitamin D3 Hevert tablets are used to prevent an apparent risk of vitamin D deficiency in otherwise healthy people without absorption disorders.They are also suitable for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis and the prevention of rickets, including in premature babies.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

Vitamin D3 is essential for the metabolism of calcium and phosphate and therefore for the stability of bones.It ensures that calcium is not lost as it passes through the filter through the kidneys.In combination with calcium, vitamin D3 has a positive effect on the immune system.By regularly taking Vitamin D3 Hevert tablets, the body receives a sufficient amount of vitamin D3.

Active ingredients of Vitamin D3 Hevert tablets: 1 tablet contains colecalciferol 0.025 mg (corresponding to 1,000 IE vitamin D3).

Excipients of Vitamin D3 Hevert tablets: carboxymethyl starch, sodium type A, DL-α-tocopherol, silicon dioxide, highly dispersed, soybean oil, partially hydrogenated, corn starch, cellulose, microcrystalline, sodium stearyl fumarate, collagen hydrolyzate from beef, sucrose.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

The dosage depends on the reason for use.Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the following dosage is recommended:

Infants and young children should receive ½ tablet daily to treat vitamin D deficiency.In exceptional cases, e.g. rickets prophylaxis in premature babies, 1 tablet can also be taken daily.

For adults, if there is a recognizable risk of vitamin D deficiency, ½ tablet daily is also recommended; for supportive treatment of osteoporosis, however, 1 whole tablet daily.

Intake

The tablets should be taken with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of still water.For infants and small children, you should dissolve the tablet on a teaspoon with water and give the dissolved tablet directly into the child's mouth, ideally during a meal.

Adding the disintegrated tablets to a bottle or porridge meal for infants is not recommended, as complete intake cannot be guaranteed.If the tablets are to be administered with food, they should only be added after boiling.When using vitaminized food, the amount of vitamin D it contains must be taken into account.

If you have a tendency to form calcium-containing kidney stones, you should not take vitamin D3.

In patients with impaired excretion of calcium and phosphate via the kidneys, in treatment with benzothiadiazine derivatives (drugs that promote urine excretion) and in immobilized patients, vitamin D3 should only be used with particular caution, as there is a risk of hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) and hypercalciuria (increased calcium concentration in the urine).Blood and urine calcium levels should be monitored in these patients.

During long-term treatment with vitamin D3, blood and urine calcium levels should be monitored and renal function should be checked by measuring serum creatinine.

This check is particularly important in older patients and during simultaneous treatment with cardiac glycosides (medicines that promote the function of the heart muscles) or diuretics (medicines that promote urination).In case of hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) or signs of reduced kidney function, the dose must be reduced or treatment interrupted.It is recommended to reduce the dose or interrupt treatment if the calcium content in the urine exceeds 7.5 mmol/24 hours (300 mg/24 hours).

If other medicines containing vitamin D are prescribed, the dose of vitamin D in this preparation must be taken into account.Additional administration of vitamin D or calcium should only be given under medical supervision.In such cases, blood and urine calcium levels must be monitored.

Vitamin D3 should be used with caution in patients suffering from sarcoidosis due to the risk of increased conversion of vitamin D to its active form.Blood and urine calcium levels should be monitored in these patients.

In patients with impaired kidney function who are being treated with vitamin D3, the effect on calcium and phosphate balance should be monitored.

The product should be used with particular caution in infants and young children as they may not be able to swallow the tablets and may choke.It is recommended to dissolve the tablets as directed instead.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, the preparation should only be taken according to strict indications and only in the dosage that is absolutely necessary to correct the deficiency.Overdoses of vitamin D during pregnancy must be prevented as long-term hypercalcemia (increased calcium concentration in the blood) can lead to physical and mental disability as well as congenital heart and eye diseases in the child.

Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk.An overdose in infants caused in this way has not been observed.

How do I take Vitamin D3 Hevert 1000 IE correctly?
