Area of application

Antifungol® HEXAL® Cream 10 mg/g is a medicine that is used for the external treatment of fungal skin diseases.It works on fungal infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts such as Candida species and molds.It is also effective for erythrasma, a skin disease caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum, as well as for pityriasis versicolor and superficial yeast infections (candidiasis).

Mode of action

The active ingredient in Antifungol® HEXAL® Cream 10 mg/g damages the outer shell, i.e. the cell membrane of fungi.Depending on the concentration of the active ingredient, the growth and reproduction of the fungi are inhibited.This stops the fungus from multiplying and prevents it from spreading further.

Antifungol® HEXAL® Cream 10 mg/g contains the active ingredient clotrimazole.One gram of the cream contains 10 milligrams of clotrimazole.The cream also contains the following other ingredients: benzyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate (Ph.Eur.), Cetylstearyl alcohol (Ph.Eur.), thick paraffin, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.If you are sensitive to cetostearyl alcohol, we recommend using a cetostearyl alcohol-free dosage form (e.g. a solution) instead of the cream.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: Apply the cream thinly to the affected skin areas 2 to 3 times a day.The duration of treatment depends on the type of disease.In order to achieve complete healing, treatment should not be stopped immediately after the acute inflammatory symptoms or subjective symptoms have subsided.For fungal skin diseases, the treatment period is at least 4 weeks.1 to 3 weeks are usually sufficient for pityriasis versicolor and 1 to 2 weeks for fungal infections in the genital area.In the case of athlete's foot, to prevent the symptoms from recurring, despite rapid subjective improvement, therapy should be continued for 2 weeks after the symptoms of the disease have disappeared.After each wash, the spaces between the toes should be dried thoroughly.

Intake

Antifungol® HEXAL® Cream 10 mg/g is not to be taken.Apply the cream thinly to the affected skin areas and rub in.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.As a precautionary measure, clotrimazole must not be used in the first 3 months of pregnancy or when used in the vagina.When used as directed, Antifungol® HEXAL® Cream 10 mg/g can be used during breastfeeding.However, antifungal HEXAL should not be applied directly to the breast area during breastfeeding.

Notes

If antifungal HEXAL and latex products (e.g. condoms, diaphragms) are used at the same time, the auxiliary substances they contain (particularly paraffin) can lead to a reduction in the functionality and thus an impairment of the safety of these products.No prescription is required for this product.Keep out of the reach of children.After opening, Antifungol HEXAL has a shelf life of 6 months.

Antifungol® HEXAL® Cream 10 mg/g is used for skin fungus.It has a long-term effect against a variety of pathogens that cause fungal infections, such as dermatophytes, yeasts (Candida species) or molds.Fungal infections (mycoses) of the skin caused by dermatophytes, yeasts (e.g. Candida species), molds and others such as Malassezia furfur as well as infections caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum.These can be: mycoses of the feet, mycoses of the skin and skin folds, bran fungus (pityriasis versicolor), superficial yeast infections (candidiasis), erythrasma.
