Fungicide ratiopharm EXTRA - against fungal diseases of the skin

The active ingredient in Fungicide ratiopharm is an antifungal agent.The structure of the cell membrane of the fungal cells is inhibited, the fungi can no longer reproduce and die.This medicine is suitable for the external treatment of fungal skin diseases caused by dermatophytes, yeasts and molds.The best-known fungal skin disease is athlete's foot.This is particularly evident in the spaces between the toes with redness, itching and oozing.

Area of application

The preparation belongs to a group of medicines against fungal diseases.This medicine is intended for the treatment of fungi and yeasts on the skin.It is used against certain yeast and skin fungi, of which athlete's foot is the best known.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

1 g of cream contains 10 mg of terbinafine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, sorbitan stearate, cetyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, cetyl stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, isopropyl myristate and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to terbinafine or any of the other ingredients.You can recognize hypersensitivity, for example, by red spots and swelling of the skin or itching.

Dosage

Always use this cream exactly as your doctor has told you.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Adults and young people over 12 years:

Athlete's foot (tinea pedis): once daily for 1 week.Possible symptoms of athlete's foot include itching, redness and scales between the toes and on the soles of the feet.Occasionally, tears in the skin (especially between the toes) and weeping blisters can occur.Athlete's foot often causes an unpleasant odor.

Tinea corporis: once daily for 1 week.Ringworm consists of slow-growing, itchy, red, and scaly circular patches that can be distributed all over the body.

Skin fungus (cutaneous candidiasis): once daily for 1 to 2 weeks.Candida is a yeast that can cause a skin infection under certain circumstances.The damage to the skin is often in warm, moist areas of the body such as the groin or under the breasts.Symptoms include itching, redness and scaling.

Bran ringworm (Pityriasis versicolor): 1 to 2 times daily for 2 weeks.The yeast that causes pityriasis versicolor is called Malassezia furfur.Infection with this yeast occurs primarily on the shoulders, torso, and upper arms.Symptoms consist of slightly itchy and slightly scaly patches.In people with suntans, the patches are generally lighter than the rest of the skin, while in people with little or no sun exposure they tend to appear light brown.

In general, symptoms improve after just a few days.Infrequent use or stopping treatment early increases the likelihood that symptoms will return.If you don't notice any improvement for one to two weeks, tell your doctor or pharmacy.

Older people:

There is no evidence that older patients require different dosages or experience different side effects than younger patients.

Children:

Since there is only limited experience with the use of the product in children under 12 years of age, the use of this medicine is not recommended in this age group.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

Overdose: If you have used too much of the medicine, there will be no consequences.However, if you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacy.If a child accidentally ingests the preparation, similar side effects must be expected that have also been observed when overdosing with terbinafine tablets (e.g. headache, nausea, pain in the upper abdomen and dizziness).In this case, a doctor or emergency doctor should be called.If the cream accidentally gets into your eyes, you should rinse them thoroughly under running water.

Forgotten application: Continue treatment without applying the medicine an additional time or applying a larger amount.

Discontinuation of therapy: If you stop using the product prematurely, the original symptoms may recur.

Particular caution is required when using it as the medicine can only be used externally.Do not bring the cream into contact with the eyes.

Pregnancy

The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or if you are planning to become pregnant.Please inform your doctor if you become pregnant while taking the product.Because terbinafine passes into breast milk, you should not use the product if you are breast-feeding a child.Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.

Notes

If the cream accidentally gets into your eyes, you should rinse them thoroughly under running water.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Application

Apply the cream in a thin layer to the inflamed skin and slightly beyond and rub lightly.If the inflammation is in a fold of skin (under the breasts, between the toes or fingers, in the groin or between the buttocks), you can cover the skin with sterile gauze, especially at night.

If applying the cream is not intended to treat your hands, please wash your hands afterwards.

The application takes place once a day.The duration of treatment depends on the type of fungal infection, usually 1-2 weeks due to its rapid effectiveness.
