Instructions for use for Senna leaf tea laxative tea, 20 g
Areas of application
This herbal laxative is used for short-term relief from constipation. It is particularly suitable if other measures such as changing your diet or swelling supplements are not sufficient. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredient and composition
The active ingredient in this laxative tea is senna leaves. The ingredients have a stimulating effect on the intestines and promote intestinal activity. One bag contains about 20 grams of senna leaves.
Application
To make the tea infusion, pour boiling water over a filter bag and let it steep for about 10 minutes. The bag is then removed and squeezed lightly. If possible, the tea should be drunk in the evening before going to bed, as the effect usually occurs after 8 to 12 hours.
Dosage
Adults and children aged 10 and over can drink a cup of the tea infusion once a day.The individual dosage should be as low as possible in order to obtain soft-formed stools.Drinking just one cup a day may be enough. If you have any questions about dosage or use, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Duration of application
This stimulant laxative should not be used for more than 1 to 2 weeks without medical advice.Prolonged use can lead to an increase in intestinal sluggishness.
Contraindications
The preparation must not be used in cases of intestinal obstruction, acute inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, abdominal pain of unknown cause and severe dehydration with water and salt losses.Due to insufficient toxicological studies, it should also not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Children under 10 years of age are not allowed to take the product.
Side effects and precautions
In individual cases, cramp-like gastrointestinal symptoms may occur that require a dose reduction.Decomposition products can cause the urine to turn intensely yellow or reddish-brown, but this is harmless. With chronic use or abuse, electrolyte losses, especially potassium losses, may occur, which can lead to impaired cardiac function and muscle weakness.Pigment deposition in the intestinal mucosa can also occur, which usually disappears after the preparation is stopped.
Overdose
In the event of accidental or intentional overdose, painful intestinal cramps and severe diarrhea with loss of water and salt as well as severe gastrointestinal complaints can occur. In such cases, you should immediately consult a doctor who will decide on the necessary countermeasures.
Underdosing or forgetting to use
Forgotten or underdosed applications should not be made up.Instead, continue using it as intended.
Storage and preservation
The preparation should be stored away from light and moisture and kept out of the reach of children. It may no longer be used after the expiry date.
