Area of application

This medicine is used to bind excess stomach acid and is used for the symptomatic treatment of heartburn and acid-related stomach problems.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The main active ingredient in this preparation is hydrotalcite with an amount of 500 mg per chewing lozenge.In addition, it contains various excipients such as arabic gum, maltitol, maltodextrin, sodium cyclamate, thin paraffin, saccharin sodium and xanthan gum.It also contains 0.067 BE total carbohydrates and 23 mg total sodium ions per lozenge.

Contraindications

The chewing pastilles must not be taken if you are allergic to hydrotalcite or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The preparation should also not be used if there is severe impairment of kidney function or if phosphate blood levels are low.

Dosage and intake

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for adolescents aged 13 and over and adults is 1-2 lozenges several times a day, but not more than 8 lozenges per day.The lozenges should be chewed well and taken 1 to 2 hours after meals and before going to bed.

Patient information

If you have prolonged stomach problems or symptoms such as tarry stools, blood in your stools or vomiting blood, you should see a doctor immediately.The preparation should not be taken for longer than 14 days without medical advice.If you have kidney or liver disease, you should consult your doctor before taking it.Children up to 12 years of age are not allowed to use the chewing pastilles.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Careful risk-benefit assessment should be carried out before use during pregnancy.There are no known reports of adverse effects of hydrotalcite during pregnancy and breastfeeding.The medicine should only be used for a short time during pregnancy and breastfeeding to avoid exposing the child to aluminum.

Other

If kidney function is impaired, there may be a risk of poisoning if high doses are taken chronically.Long-term consumption of high amounts and a low-phosphate diet can lead to phosphate depletion and the risk of osteomalcia.Some of the aluminum is absorbed and leads to an increase in the serum concentration of aluminum.For long-term use, aluminum blood levels should be checked regularly.
