Artelac EDO eye drops contain the active ingredient hypromellose and are used for the symptomatic treatment of dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva (dry eye). This can be caused by tear secretion and tear function disorders, local or systemic diseases or insufficient eyelid closure. Eye burning, foreign body sensation and photophobia in wind, heat and fatigue may occur. Artelac EDO can also be used for wetting and rewetting soft and hard contact lenses. It contains no preservatives and is therefore suitable for people who cannot tolerate preserved artificial tear substitutes. Dosage is usually 1 drop 3-5 times daily or more frequently depending on individual needs. The application is done by instilling the medicine into the conjunctival sac of the eye. The duration of use is not limited, but may require a doctor's visit for long-term or continuous treatment of dry eye. There are no known overdose reactions. Artelac EDO should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to hypromellose. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist before use. Artelac EDO may cause temporary blurred vision, therefore do not operate machinery or participate in road traffic during treatment. There are no known interactions with other medicines. Artelac EDO should be stored away from heat and used within one hour of opening. It is designed as a single-dose preparation and should be discarded after single use.
