Instructions for use for URGOSORB 10x10 cm compresses, 10 pcs
Instructions for use of the article UrgoSorb Compresses 10 cm x 10 cm: UrgoSorb is a sterile wound dressing made of calcium alginate and hydrocolloid particles with high absorbency. It can be removed painlessly, even when moist. It is important to note that UrgoSorb should not be used as a surgical implantable dressing and should not be combined with antiseptic alkaline solutions. Before using UrgoSorb dressings or tamponades, the wound should be rinsed with sterile physiological saline solution if antiseptic solutions have been used previously. The sterile individual packaging is intended for single use only, as reuse may lead to infection risks. The integrity of the packaging should be checked before use and no damaged packaging should be used. Re-sterilisation is not permitted. The application of UrgoSorb involves preparing the wound by cleansing with physiological saline solution and then drying the wound area with a sterile compress. The dressing is applied directly to the wound. For lower leg ulcers with moderate to weak exudation, it is recommended to moisten the dressing with physiological saline solution before application. To prevent slippage, UrgoSorb can be secured with an additional dressing such as compresses and a fixation bandage. In case of pressure ulcers in the sacral region or incontinence, UrgoSorb should be covered with a thin hydrocolloid wound dressing. The used dressing material should be disposed of according to local disposal procedures and guidelines. Dressing changes should be made as soon as the maximum absorbency of UrgoSorb is exhausted. The frequency of dressing changes varies according to the type of wound and can range from once a day for heavily weeping or infected wounds to every other day for less heavily weeping wounds. When removing the dressing, first remove the secondary dressing and then loosen UrgoSorb. For lower leg ulcers, moistening UrgoSorb with physiological saline solution before removal may be helpful. The UrgoSorb wound dressing is then renewed according to the application described above. UrgoSorb is suitable for the topical management of moderately to heavily weeping wounds in the cleansing and granulation phase, particularly post-surgical and chronic wounds. It can also be used to treat infected wounds with appropriate medical supervision. The dressing is also suitable for haemostasis in bleeding traumatic and chronic wounds by activating platelets. UrgoSorb should not be used in endonasal tamponades in sinus surgery, dry necrotic covered wounds, deep third degree burns, lightly exuding wounds or known hypersensitivity to the dressing.
