UrgoTül Ag Lite Border is a self-adhesive wound dressing soaked in silver salt and based on lipid colloid technology (TLC).This technology was developed by Laboratoires URGO .The wound dressing consists of three layers: an TLC-Ag wound healing matrix that comes into direct contact with the wound, a thin and absorbent compress in the middle and a white, protective polyurethane backing layer coated with a highly compatible adhesive.

Ingredients and properties

The TLC-Ag wound healing matrix contains hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethyl cellulose), petroleum jelly, cohesive polymers and silver salt.In contact with the wound exudates, the hydrocolloid particles gel and form a lipicolloid film.This leads to several specific properties:

The wound dressing maintains a moist wound environment that promotes healing.It forms a gel in contact with the wound and can be removed without damaging the newly formed tissue.The dressing change is painless for the patient.The adhesive protects the area surrounding the wound and is flexible and pleasantly adaptable to the wound.The thin absorbent compress ensures optimal drainage of weakly exuding wounds and protects the wound area from maceration.

The antibacterial effectiveness of the wound dressing was demonstrated in vitro over a period of up to 7 days.This also helps reduce odor.The silver ions in the TLC-Ag wound healing matrix give the wound dressing antibacterial activity, which reduces local bacterial colonization.Silver has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, including against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as well as certain fungi and yeasts.It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus pyogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which are often responsible for infected wounds.

Areas of application

UrgoTül Ag Lite Border is indicated for the local treatment of slightly exuding wounds with the risk or signs of local infection.This includes chronic wounds such as pressure sores and leg ulcers, as well as acute wounds such as second-degree burns, skin abrasions, traumatic wounds, and surgical wounds.The wound dressing is suitable for wounds with a healthy wound environment.

Contraindications

UrgoTül Ag Lite Border should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to silver and other components of the wound dressing.It must not be used in patients being examined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Instructions for use

The wound should be cleaned according to usual care protocol.If an antiseptic was previously used, the wound should be carefully rinsed with sterile physiological saline before using UrgoTül Ag Lite Border.The protective films of the wound dressing must be removed and the wound dressing placed directly on the wound, making sure that the compress in the middle is positioned directly on the wound.UrgoTül Ag Lite Border should be changed every 1 to 3 days, depending on the wound being treated and its healing process.The maximum duration of treatment is one month.
