Instructions for use for URGOSORB 10x10 cm compresses, 20 pcs
Instructions for use for UrgoSorb compresses 10 cm x 10 cm
UrgoSorb is a sterile wound dressing consisting of calcium alginate and hydrocolloid particles. These natural polymers are known for their strong absorbency. The wound dressing can be easily removed in one piece, even when wet, without causing pain.
No prescription is required for this product.
Precautions
UrgoSorb is non-absorbable and must not be used as a surgical implantable compress. The wound dressing should not be used together with antiseptic or alkaline solutions. If such solutions have been used, the wound should be irrigated with sterile physiological saline before using UrgoSorb. The sterile individual packaging is for single use only and should not be re-sterilized.Check the integrity of the packaging and do not use the product if it is damaged.
Application instructions
To prepare the wound, it should be cleaned with physiological saline solution. After using antibiotics, corticosteroids or antiseptic alkaline solutions, the wound should also be irrigated with physiological saline. The area surrounding the wound should be dried with a sterile compress.UrgoSorb is applied directly to the wound. For lower leg ulcers with moderate to weak exudation, the compress should be moistened with physiological saline solution before application.UrgoSorb should be secured with an additional bandage to prevent slipping. In the event of a pressure ulcer in the sacral area or incontinence, UrgoSorb should be covered with a thin hydrocolloid wound dressing. The remaining dressing material should be disposed of in accordance with local disposal procedures and guidelines.
The UrgoSorb wound dressing should be changed when the maximum suction power is exhausted. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the wound and varies from once a day for heavily exuding or infected wounds to every other day for less exuding wounds. To remove the wound dressing, you should remove the secondary dressing and then peel off UrgoSorb. For lower leg ulcers, UrgoSorb can be moistened with physiological saline beforehand to make removal easier. The UrgoSorb wound dressing should then be replaced as described.
Indication
UrgoSorb is suitable for the local treatment of moderately to heavily exuding wounds in the cleaning and granulation phase, especially in post-surgical wounds such as amputation wounds and abscess wounds as well as in chronic wounds such as decubitus ulcers and leg ulcers. The wound dressing can also be used to treat wounds with clinical signs of infection, provided appropriate medical supervision is provided.UrgoSorb is also indicated for hemorragic wounds.
UrgoSorb promotes the primary hemostasis of bleeding traumatic and chronic wounds by activating blood platelets.
Contraindications
UrgoSorb must not be used for endonasal packing during sinus surgery. It is also not suitable for use on dry, necrotic wounds, deep burns, third degree burns and slightly exuding wounds.UrgoSorb should also not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to the wound dressing.
