Instructions for use for Sepso J solution, 500 ml
Area of application
The product is a disinfectant and antiseptic intended for use on skin, mucous membranes and wounds.It is used once to disinfect the external skin, oral mucosa, vagina, cervix and urethra.It can also be used repeatedly and for a limited period of time as an antiseptic for hand disinfection, bladder catheterization and for damaged skin such as pressure sores, leg ulcers, superficial wounds and burns.

The solution contains 104 mg of povidone-iodine and 11.44 mg of iodine per milliliter.Citric acid 1-water, disodium hydrogen phosphate 12-water, nonoxinol-9 and purified water are included as excipients.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to iodine or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also prohibited in the case of hyperthyroidism, other thyroid diseases, the chronic skin inflammation dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring or planned or carried out radiation therapy of the thyroid with iodine.
Dosage
The medicine is intended for external use undiluted and in dilutions.It should be applied to the area to be treated until completely wetted.The antiseptic film that forms is easily washed off with water.It is used undiluted for skin disinfection or antiseptic of the mucous membrane, for example before surgical procedures.The exposure time is at least 1 minute for skin with few sebaceous glands and at least 10 minutes for skin rich in sebaceous glands.Puddle formation should be avoided during preoperative skin disinfection.
For hygienic hand disinfection, 3 ml of solution is rubbed into the hands; after an exposure time of 1 minute, the hands should be washed.For surgical hand disinfection, 2 x 5 ml solution is rubbed into the hands for an exposure time of 5 minutes.For the antiseptic treatment of superficial wounds, the medicine is applied undiluted.For antiseptic rinses, it can be diluted using normal tap water or physiological saline.The dilutions should be freshly prepared and used quickly.
Browning of the drug indicates its effectiveness, while discoloration indicates the end of effectiveness.If used repeatedly, the frequency and duration depends on the indication.The medicine can be used once or several times a day.Wound treatment should be continued as long as there are signs of infection.

Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.After thyroid disease or in the case of goiter, the medicine should only be used over a longer period of time and over large areas if the doctor has expressly instructed you to do so.Regular use should be avoided if lithium therapy is used at the same time.In newborns and infants up to 6 months of age, the medicine should only be used on the express instructions of the doctor and in an extremely limited manner.The risk of hyperthyroidism caused by iodine is increased in older people.
The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be used on the express instructions of the doctor and in an extremely limited manner.In this case, a check of the child's thyroid function is necessary.
Notes
The solution is not intended for ingestion.If a new infection occurs after stopping treatment, treatment can be restarted.Special solutions are recommended for use on the eyes. Dilutions should always be made fresh and used quickly.Discoloration of the solution indicates the end of its effectiveness.After use in infants and small children, thyroid function should be checked by a doctor.
