This medicine contains the active ingredients calcium and vitamin D3.Calcium is essential for bone structure, while vitamin D3 promotes the absorption of calcium from the intestine and supports its incorporation into the bones.It is used to treat combined vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in older patients and as an adjunctive therapy for osteoporosis when vitamin D and calcium levels are too low or there is an increased risk of such deficiencies.

Each effervescent tablet contains 1500 mg calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 600 mg calcium ions, and 4 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate, which corresponds to 400 IU vitamin D3 (10 µg).In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: alpha-tocopherol, malic acid, citric acid (anhydrous), modified corn starch, maltodextrin, sodium ascorbate, sodium carbonate, sodium cyclamate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, saccharin sodium, sucrose, highly disperse silicon dioxide, medium-chain triglycerides, lemon flavor and sorbitol.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D or other ingredients, if you have elevated calcium levels in the blood or urine, if you have previous illnesses that can lead to such increases, such as hyperfunction of the parathyroid glands or malignant bone diseases, if you have kidney failure, kidney stones or calcium deposits in the kidneys, or if you have a vitamin D overdose.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults and the elderly is one tablet twice daily, morning and evening.Pregnant women should only take one tablet per day.During long-term treatment, regular checks of the calcium levels in the blood and urine are necessary.The product is not suitable for children and adolescents.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor.A serum calcium check should be carried out every 3 to 6 months.In the event of an overdose, symptoms such as loss of appetite, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, muscle weakness and cardiac arrhythmias may occur.In the event of an overdose, you should stop taking it and consult a doctor.

Intake

The effervescent tablet is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.It is taken in the morning and evening.

Patient information

During long-term treatment, calcium levels and kidney function should be checked regularly.This is particularly important in older patients and when taking cardiac glycosides or diuretics at the same time.Before taking it, the amount of vitamin D, calcium and alkali already consumed from other sources should be taken into account to avoid the risk of Burnett syndrome.

Particular caution is required in the case of kidney stones, sarcoidosis, limited mobility, simultaneous intake of other vitamin D or calcium-containing preparations and kidney dysfunction.The product is not suitable for children and adolescents.

No effects on the ability to drive or use machines are expected.

Pregnancy

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should take the supplement two hours before or after meals to avoid affecting iron absorption.During pregnancy, daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D.Breastfeeding women should talk to their doctor about whether their child is already receiving products containing vitamin D.
