IDEOS® 500mg/ 400 IU chewable tablets are a preparation that contains calcium carbonate and colecalciferol (vitamin D3).These chewable tablets are used to treat and prevent calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in older people.They also support the specific therapy of osteoporosis in patients with an increased risk of such a deficiency.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

The chewable tablets are used to compensate for calcium and vitamin D deficiencies.They are particularly suitable for older people who suffer from such a deficiency or are at increased risk of it.In addition, they can be used to support osteoporosis therapy, where an adequate supply of calcium and vitamin D is crucial.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each chewable tablet contains 1250 mg of calcium carbonate, equivalent to 500 mg of calcium ions, and 4 mg of colecalciferol dry concentrate, equivalent to 400 IU of colecalciferol.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: DL-a-tocopherol, xylitol, sorbitol, povidone K30, magnesium stearate, gelatin, sucrose, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn starch, lemon flavor, natural and nature-identical flavorings, maltodextrin, arabic gum, sodium citrate, citric acid and butylated hydroxyanisole.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium, vitamin D or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used if the calcium content in the blood or urine is too high, if there is severe kidney dysfunction, if there are kidney stones or if the vitamin D content in the blood is too high.

Dosage

The recommended dose is one chewable tablet twice daily.The tablets can be chewed or sucked and should preferably be taken with a meal.If you have taken more than you should, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.Do not forget to take the next dose as usual without making up for the missed dose.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you require long-term treatment, have impaired kidney function, are prone to kidney stones, have sarcoidosis or are taking other vitamin D or calcium supplements.In the case of osteoporosis, the calcium level in the blood should be determined before starting treatment.During long-term treatment, the calcium content in the blood should be checked regularly.The product is not suitable for children and adolescents.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.During pregnancy, the daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D.The daily dose of the drug must not exceed one tablet per day.You can also use the product while breastfeeding, although it should be noted that the active ingredients can pass into breast milk.

Notes

During long-term use, blood and urine calcium levels and kidney function should be monitored.The dosage should be reduced or treatment temporarily interrupted if urinary calcium excretion is too high.The dosage of vitamin D per dosage form should be taken into account when using other vitamin D preparations.Since the medicine already contains vitamin D, additional use of vitamin D or calcium may only be carried out under strict medical supervision.
