Thioctacid 600 HR is a medicine used to treat paraesthesia caused by diabetic nerve damage (polyneuropathy). The active substance alpha-lipoic acid influences the metabolism in the body and protects the nerve cells from damage. Thioctacid 600 HR is taken as a film-coated tablet and should be taken once a day before the first meal with sufficient liquid. The dosage should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor. The drug is not suitable for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking it. Possible side effects are nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal pain, allergic reactions, dizziness, changes in taste and a drop in blood sugar levels.
