Instructions for use of the article "Charcoal pulvis powder". Important information (obligatory data): KOHLE pulvis powder. Active substance: charcoal, medicinal. Indications: Diarrhoea, especially acute; poisoning: Prevention of absorption and acceleration of excretion of toxins. For risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist. Composition: 10 g powder contains as active ingredient: 10 g medicinal charcoal. Substance and indication group or mode of action: Antidiarrhoeal agent, antidote for poisoning. Indications: - For the symptomatic treatment of diarrhoea in adults, in infants and children only on medical advice. - To prevent absorption into the body in cases of oral poisoning by food, heavy metals and medicines; to accelerate excretion in cases of poisoning by substances which can pass from the intestine to the liver (e.g. carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenylbutazone, theophylline). Contraindications: - Febrile diarrhoea - Medicinal charcoal should not be taken in cases of poisoning with corrosive substances (strong acids or alkalis), as diagnostic measures are made more difficult Side effects: After administration of very high doses, constipation may occur. Interactions with other medicines: The effect of orally taken medicines is generally reduced by the use of KOHLE-PULVIS . Use of KOHLE-PULVIS may reduce the reliability of oral contraceptives/ovulation inhibitors, necessitating an additional method of contraception. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: No restrictions Dosage instructions, method and duration of use: - Dosage recommendation for diarrhoea: Adults take 10 g KOHLE-PULVIS several times a day. In infants and children, use only as part of medical treatment. - Dosage recommendation for poisoning: Depending on the amount of poison ingested, slurry 50 to 100 g powder with approx. 400 ml water or unsweetened tea and administer orally or by stomach tube. In children, 1 g/kg body weight (max. 50 g) recommended. In cases of severe poisoning and to interrupt the absorption of certain substances, repeated administration is indicated. - For further information on intake and period of use, see the directions for use. Contraindications: - Allergy to medicinal charcoal - Febrile diarrhoea Side effects: Constipation may occur if high doses are used.
