Biotin Impuls® 5 mg

Biotin Impuls® 5 mg is a vitamin preparation that is used to treat and prevent biotin deficiency.It is particularly useful for treating the rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency.The tablets are high-dose and ensure a sufficient supply of biotin.The preparation is gluten-free, contains no preservatives and no animal fats.

Area of application

Biotin Impuls® 5 mg is used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.For prevention, less than 0.2 mg of biotin daily is sufficient.To treat biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency, 1 to 2 tablets (corresponding to 5 to 10 mg of biotin) are taken daily.For lower dosages, preparations with a lower biotin content are available.

Each tablet contains 5 mg of biotin as an active ingredient.The other ingredients are cellulose, crospovidone, lactose 1-water, magnesium stearate and povidone, all of which serve as excipients.

Contraindications

Biotin Impuls® 5 mg must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to biotin or any of the other ingredients of the drug.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.The usual dose is 1 to 2 tablets daily, corresponding to 5 to 10 mg of biotin.For prophylaxis, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.The duration of use depends on the normalization of biotin levels in the blood and the course of the underlying disease.In the case of the very rare biotin-dependent, multiple carboxylase deficiency, it is taken for life.

If you have taken more of the medicine than you should, poisoning and overdose symptoms are not known.

Intake

The tablet is swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.To halve, please place the tablet with the score line facing up on a firm surface and press it with your finger.

Notes

Biotin Impuls® 5 mg contains lactose.If you are having a laboratory test, you must tell your doctor or laboratory staff that you are taking or have recently taken Biotin Impuls® 5 mg, as biotin can affect the results of such tests.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.

Other

Deficiency symptoms do not normally occur in humans.However, consuming very large amounts of raw egg whites can cause a vitamin H deficiency.In the case of a hereditary defect, multiple carboxylase deficiency, the need for vitamin H is increased.A pronounced deficiency is evident in the skin and appendages and also results in certain psychiatric signs and gastrointestinal disorders.
