Mode of action

A nail fungal infection can have various causes and can appear in various places on your nails, e.g. on the nail root, on the nail bed or on the nail itself.As a rule, a fungal infection begins at the front edge of your nail and spreads from here until it finally affects the entire nail.

Many people suffer from the visible consequences of nail fungus, as the nails can become unsightly and discolored.Your nails then become brittle, chip quickly, look white-yellowish brown and may be thickened.In some cases the nails also cause pain.

If only individual nails or areas are affected, you can cure your nails with Amorolfin ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus.Because Amorolfin ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus contains the active ingredient amorolfine.Amorolfine inhibits fungal growth and kills the fungus that causes nail fungus.

For each application you should follow the following steps:

File nails, clean nails with isopropanol, apply Amorolfin-ratiopharm to the nails, clean the spatula provided.

After drying, the polish is waterproof and you can wash your hands and feet as usual.

Even though nail fungus is much more common on the feet, the fingernails can also be affected.However, the treatment period for fingernails is usually only up to six months.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, the product should not be used.Do not use the product if you are under 18 years old.

Dosage

Recommended use of Amorolfin ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus:

Before starting treatment with Amorolfin ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus, you should draw a sketch of your nails that are affected by fungal areas.This will help you remember what the nail originally looked like when you want to monitor your treatment.

Once weekly use should be carried out for 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails.Because nails grow slowly, it may take 2 or 3 months before you see improvement.

It is important to use Amorolfin ratiopharm 5% for nail fungus until the infection has subsided and healthy nails have grown back.

The following steps should be carefully followed for each affected nail:

First, file the nail.When using for the first time, file the infected areas of the nail, including the nail surface, as best as possible with the nail file provided.But be careful not to use the file on your healthy nails to prevent infection.

Make sure no one else uses the files in your pack to prevent the infection from spreading.

Then clean the nail with the included alcohol wipe (or nail polish remover) to clean the nail surface.Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each affected nail.

Finally, apply the nail polish from Amorolfin-ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus.Dip the reusable spatula into the bottle containing Amorolfin ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus.The varnish must not be stripped off the end of the bottle neck before application.

Apply the nail polish evenly over the entire surface of the nail.

Allow the treated nail(s) to dry for approximately 3 minutes.

Finally, clean the spatula so that you can use it again next time.

For subsequent treatments, you must first remove the old polish with an alcohol swab and, if necessary, file the nails again.

Repeat the application of the nail polish as described above.

It is important to continue using the nail polish until the infection has cleared up and you have healthy nails growing back.

If you forget to use Amorolfin-ratiopharm 5% - for nail fungus, don't worry.As soon as you remember, apply it again in the same way as before.

Intake

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the preparation is used as follows: Adults.Treat the affected nails as described.Apply the nail polish to the affected fingernails or toenails once a week.Continue treatment until the diseased nails grow out healthy (normal appearance of the nail).Nails grow slowly, so it may take 2 or 3 months before you see improvement.

It is important to continue using nail polish until the infection clears and healthy nails grow back.

The following steps should be followed carefully for each affected nail (see instructions for use for more information).

Before you use the nail polish again, you must first remove the old nail polish from your nails with a swab soaked in isopropanol and, if necessary, file the nails again.

Repeat the application of the nail polish as described above.

Once the nail polish has dried, it will not be affected by soap and water, so you can wash your hands and feet as usual.However, the varnish layer of this medicine on the fingernails can be dissolved or removed when handling organic solvents (nitro thinner, white spirit, etc.).Therefore, when working with such products, you must wear impermeable gloves to protect the paint layer.

It is important to continue using nail polish until the infection clears and healthy nails grow back. This generally takes 6 to 7 months.As the diseased nail grows out, you will see the healthy nail grow back.

There is currently no experience with the use of the drug in infants, children and adolescents.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.Nail files that are used for diseased nails should not be used for healthy nails.The preparation should not be applied to the skin around the affected nail.

The medicine contains ethanol, which is a flammable substance and should not be used near an open flame, a lit cigarette or some appliances (e.g. hair dryer).

Avoid all contact with eyes, ears and mucous membranes.No artificial nails should be used while using the medication.

Patients working with organic solvents (diluents, white spirit, etc.) must wear impermeable gloves to protect the coating of the drug on the fingernails.Otherwise the nail polish will come off.

All medicines can cause allergic reactions and although these are usually mild, some can be serious.If this occurs, stop using the medicine, remove the product immediately with nail polish remover or the cleaning alcohol wipes provided in the package, and seek medical advice.

The medicine must not be used again.

If you develop any of the following symptoms, you need urgent medical attention: difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, severe skin rash.

In severe nail fungal disease involving the new nail formation zone (nail matrix), treatment with this medication alone is not sufficient.Please discuss with your doctor whether combination therapy with oral (systemically active) antimycotics is a suitable treatment option in your case.

This medicinal product contains 0.554 g alcohol (ethanol) per g corresponding to 55.4% w/w.

The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

There is only limited experience with the use of the product during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding unless clearly necessary.
