Acetylsalicylic acid, or ASSfor short, is an active ingredient with a wide range of applications.The exact mechanism of action of ASS has been known for around fifty years, which has led to improvements in its application.The dosages were made more individual and different dosage forms were expanded.A special gastro-resistant coating on tablets ensures that they do not dissolve in the stomach, but rather in the digestive tract.This means that the sensitive stomach lining does not come into contact with the acetylsalicylic acid, which increases tolerance. ASS Dexcel® Protect has this stomach-friendly property and helps to inhibit the sticking and clumping of blood platelets, prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Area of application

The medicine prevents blood platelets from sticking together and clumping together, thereby preventing the formation of blood clots.It is used for unstable angina pectoris as part of standard therapy, for acute myocardial infarction also as part of standard therapy, to prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels, and to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions after precursor stages have occurred.The preparation is not suitable for the treatment of pain conditions.If you don't feel better or even feel worse, contact your doctor.

75 mg acetylsalicylic acid, microcrystalline cellulose as an excipient, Eudragit L 100 - 55 as an excipient, 17.8 mg lactose 1-water as an excipient, corn starch as an excipient, highly disperse silicon dioxide as an excipient, stearic acid as an excipient, talc as an excipient and triethyl citrate as an excipient.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you have had an allergic reaction in the past to certain medicines for pain, fever or inflammation with asthma attacks or in any other way, if you have acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, if you have a pathologically increased tendency to bleed, if you have liver and kidney failure, if you have severe heart muscle weakness that has not been controlled by medication, if you are taking 15 mg or more methotrexate at the same timeper week, or in the last 3 months of pregnancy in a dosage of more than 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.The recommended dose for unstable angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels and to prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions is a daily dose of 1 75 mg tablet (corresponding to 75 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day) up to a maximum of 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day.To prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, a daily dose of 4 75 mg tablets (equivalent to 300 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day) is recommended.The medicine is intended for long-term use.The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.

If you take more than you should, dizziness and ringing in the ears, especially in children and the elderly, may be signs of serious poisoning.If you suspect an overdose, please notify your doctor immediately.If you have taken too little or forgotten a dose, do not take twice as much next time, but continue taking it as described in the dosage instructions or as prescribed by your doctor.Please do not interrupt or stop treatment without first discussing this with your doctor.If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

Please take the tablets whole, preferably at least 30 minutes before a meal, with plenty of water.To treat an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product, if you are hypersensitive to other painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, if you are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time, if you have other allergies, if you have bronchial asthma, hay fever, swollen nasal mucous membranes or chronic respiratory diseases, if you are being treated with anticoagulant drugs at the same time, if you have stomach and intestinal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleedingHistory, with impaired liver function, with impaired kidney function or reduced cardiac and vascular blood flow, before operations or in patients with severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.In low doses, acetylsalicylic acid reduces uric acid excretion.If you cut or injure yourself, it may take a little longer than usual for any bleeding to stop.Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used for a longer period of time or in higher doses without consulting your doctor.The medicine should only be used in children and adolescents with feverish illnesses on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.No special precautions are required.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.If you continue or start treatment with this product during pregnancy on the advice of your doctor, use the product as recommended by your doctor and do not take a higher dose than prescribed.Do not take more than 100 mg of the medicine per day if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy, as this could harm your unborn child or cause problems during birth.You should not take this medicine during the first 6 months of pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and recommended by your doctor.The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since adverse consequences for the infant have not yet been reported, interruption of breastfeeding will generally not be necessary when using a daily dose of up to 150 mg.If higher doses are taken (over 150 mg daily dose), breastfeeding should be discontinued.
