Area of application

This medicine acts as an antiplatelet agent by preventing platelets from sticking together and clumping together.This prevents the formation of blood clots (thrombi).It is applied in various situations including:

For unstable angina pectoris caused by circulatory disorders in the coronary arteries, as part of standard therapy.

Also as part of standard therapy for acute heart attacks.

To prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack (reinfarction prophylaxis).

After surgery or other procedures on arterial blood vessels to avoid complications.

For the prevention of transient cerebral insufficiency (TIA) and cerebral infarction after precursor stages have occurred.

The main active ingredient of this drug is acetylsalicylic acid at a dosage of 75 mg per tablet.In addition, it contains various excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, Eudragit L 100-55, lactose 1-water, corn starch, highly disperse silicon dioxide, stearic acid, talc and triethyl citrate.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates or any of the other ingredients.It should also not be used if you have had a previous allergic reaction to certain painkillers, fever medicines or inflammatory drugs (salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) with asthma attacks or other allergic reactions.

Other contraindications include acute stomach and intestinal ulcers, pathologically increased bleeding tendency, liver and kidney failure, severe heart muscle weakness that is not controlled by medication, and the simultaneous intake of 15 mg or more methotrexate per week.In the last three months of pregnancy, a dosage of more than 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid per day should be avoided.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The recommended dose is:

For unstable angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction, a daily dose of 75 mg to a maximum of 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid is recommended.

To prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack, a daily dose of 300 mg acetylsalicylic acid is recommended.

After operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels, a daily dose of 75 mg to a maximum of 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid is also recommended.The most appropriate time to start treatment with 75 mg after aortocoronary vein bypass appears to be 24 hours after surgery.

To prevent temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain and cerebral infarctions, a daily dose of 75 mg to a maximum of 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid is recommended.

The medicine is intended for long-term use.The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.

No prescription is required for this product.

If you take more than you should, dizziness and ringing in the ears, especially in children and the elderly, may be signs of serious poisoning.If you suspect an overdose, please notify your doctor immediately.

If you forget to take it, do not take double the amount next time, but continue taking it as described in the dosage instructions or as prescribed by your doctor.

Intake

Please take the tablets whole, preferably at least 30 minutes before a meal, with plenty of water.To treat an acute heart attack, the first tablet should be bitten or chewed.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product if you are hypersensitive to other painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, if you are also taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or if you have other allergies, bronchial asthma, hay fever, swollen nasal mucous membranes or chronic respiratory diseases.

You should also speak to your doctor before taking it if you are being treated with anticoagulant drugs at the same time, if you have a history of stomach and intestinal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, if you have impaired liver or kidney function or reduced cardiac and vascular blood flow.

Before operations, you should inform your doctor or dentist if you have taken the preparation, as increased bleeding may occur.

Acetylsalicylic acid can cause an accelerated breakdown of red blood cells or a certain form of anemia in patients with severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

In low doses, acetylsalicylic acid reduces uric acid excretion, which can trigger a gout attack in patients at risk.

If you cut or injure yourself, it may take a little longer for any bleeding to stop.If you experience unusual bleeding, contact your doctor.

Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used for a longer period of time or in higher doses without consulting your doctor.

The medicine should only be used in children and adolescents with feverish illnesses on medical advice and only if other measures do not work.Prolonged vomiting can be a sign of Reye's syndrome, a very rare but life-threatening disease that requires immediate medical attention.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

If you continue or start treatment with this product during pregnancy on the advice of your doctor, use the product as recommended by your doctor and do not take a higher dose than prescribed.

In the last trimester of pregnancy, you should not take more than 100 mg of the drug per day as this could harm your unborn child or cause problems during birth.It can cause kidney and heart problems in your unborn baby and affect you and your baby's bleeding tendency.

During the first six months of pregnancy, you should only take this medicine if absolutely necessary and recommended by your doctor.The dosage should be as low as possible and over as short a period of time as possible.

The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid and its breakdown products pass into breast milk in small quantities.With a daily dose of up to 150 mg, interruption of breastfeeding is usually not necessary.If higher doses are taken (over 150 mg daily dose), breastfeeding should be discontinued.
