ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets

ASS STADA® 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets with the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid are used to prevent blood clots.They protect against vascular occlusions and contribute to the prevention of strokes and heart attacks.The enteric coating of the tablet ensures better tolerability.

Area of application

ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets are used to prevent heart attacks, strokes and problems of the cardiovascular system in pre-stressed patients.The platelet aggregation inhibitor prevents the formation of blood clots and protects against vascular occlusion.The tablets are taken once a day with sufficient liquid.

Mode of action

The ASS STADA® 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets contain acetylsalicylic acid, which has an anti-aggregation effect on platelets.Platelets are small cells in the blood that can cause the blood to clot.Blood clots can have serious consequences in those with heart disease or in patients with a history of stroke.Acetylsalicylic acid prevents the formation of such blood clots.

ASS STADA® 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets contain the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid.Each enteric-coated tablet contains 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid (Ph. Eur.).The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, highly disperse silicon dioxide, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) (vegetable), methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) (Ph. Eur.) (Type C), sodium dodecyl sulfate, polysorbate 80, triethyl citrate and talc.

Contraindications

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The medicine must also not be used if you are allergic to other salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).Furthermore, it is not permitted to be taken if you have current or previous ulcers in the stomach or small intestine, if you have bleeding such as a stroke, if the blood has a low tendency to clot, if you have severe liver or kidney problems, in the last 3 months of pregnancy in a dosage of more than 100 mg per day and if you are taking methotrexate in a dosage of more than 15 mg per week.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults for long-term use is 100 mg (1 tablet) once daily.The ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets should not be used in higher doses without medical advice.The maximum daily dose is 300 mg (3 tablets).In older patients who are more susceptible to side effects, the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid should be used with caution and only with regular review of the treatment.In children and adolescents under 16 years of age, the active ingredient can only be used with a doctor's prescription.

Intake

The tablet is taken whole with sufficient liquid (½ glass of water).Because of the enteric coating, the tablets should not be crushed, broken or chewed as the tablet coating prevents stomach irritation.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, have or have had stomach or small intestine problems, have high blood pressure, have asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucous membranes (nasal polyps) or other chronic respiratory diseases, have ever had gout or have heavy menstrual bleeding.If your symptoms worsen or if you experience any serious or unexpected side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately.Tell your doctor if you are having surgery, as acetylsalicylic acid has a blood-thinning effect and may increase the risk of bleeding.Acetylsalicylic acid can cause Reye's syndrome when administered to children.Therefore, the preparation must not be administered to children under 16 years of age unless directed by a doctor.You should ensure adequate fluid intake, as taking acetylsalicylic acid can lead to a deterioration in kidney function.This medicine is not suitable for the treatment of pain or as an antipyretic agent.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Pregnant women should not take acetylsalicylic acid without medical advice. In the last 3 months of pregnancy you may only take the medicine if your doctor tells you to do so and the daily dose does not exceed 100 mg.Regular or high doses of this medicine during the final stages of pregnancy can cause serious complications for the mother and baby.Breastfeeding mothers should not take acetylsalicylic acid without medical advice.

ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets with the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid are used to reduce the risk of blood clots forming and thus prevent the following diseases: further heart attacks, further temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain (TIA: transient ischemic attack) or further strokes, provided cerebral hemorrhage has been ruled out, problems of the cardiovascular system in patients with stable or unstable angina pectoris (pain in the...chest area).Also used to prevent blood clots from forming after certain types of heart surgery to dilate or keep blood vessels open.This medicine is not suitable for emergency situations.It can only be taken for prevention.No prescription is required for this product.For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacy.
