ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets

ASS STADA® 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets with the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid are used to prevent blood clots.They help prevent heart attacks, strokes and problems with the cardiovascular system in pre-stressed patients.The enteric coating of the tablets ensures better tolerability.

Area of application

ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets are used for secondary prevention of stroke and heart attack.The active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid acts as a platelet aggregation inhibitor and prevents the formation of blood clots.This protects against vascular blockages.The tablets should be taken once a day with sufficient liquid.

Mode of action

The ASS STADA® 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets contain acetylsalicylic acid, which is an active ingredient that inhibits the aggregation of platelets.Platelets are small cells in the blood that promote clotting.Blood clots can have serious consequences if you have heart disease or after a stroke.Acetylsalicylic acid prevents the formation of such clots and reduces the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular problems.

ASS STADA® 100 mg gastro-resistant tablets contain the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid.Each tablet contains 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid (Ph. Eur.).The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, highly disperse silicon dioxide, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) (vegetable), methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) (Ph. Eur.) (Type C), sodium dodecyl sulfate, polysorbate 80, triethyl citrate and talc.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or any of the other ingredients.The medication should also not be used if you are allergic to other salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).Furthermore, it must not be taken if you have current or previous stomach or small intestinal ulcers, bleeding such as a stroke, low blood clotting tendency, severe liver or kidney problems, in the last three months of pregnancy in a dosage of more than 100 mg per day or if you are simultaneously taking methotrexate in a dosage of more than 15 mg per week.

Dosage

The usual dose for adults for long-term use is 100 mg (1 tablet) once daily.The tablets should not be taken in higher doses without medical advice.The maximum daily dose is 300 mg (3 tablets).In elderly patients, the active ingredient should be used with caution and only with regular treatment reviews.In children and adolescents under 16 years of age, the active ingredient can only be used with a doctor's prescription.

Intake

The tablets are intended to be taken orally.They should be taken whole with sufficient liquid (½ glass of water).Because of the enteric-coated film, the tablets must not be crushed, broken or chewed as the tablet coating prevents irritation to the stomach.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, stomach or small intestine problems, high blood pressure, asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucous membranes (nasal polyps) or other chronic respiratory diseases, gout or heavy menstrual bleeding.If your symptoms worsen or if you experience any serious or unexpected side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately.Tell your doctor if you are having surgery, as acetylsalicylic acid has a blood-thinning effect and may increase the risk of bleeding.Make sure you drink enough fluids, as taking acetylsalicylic acid can lead to a deterioration in kidney function.This medicine is not suitable for the treatment of pain or as an antipyretic agent.

The medicine should not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Pregnant women should not take acetylsalicylic acid without medical advice.In the last three months of pregnancy you may only take the medicine if your doctor tells you to do so and the daily dose does not exceed 100 mg. Regular or high doses of this medicine during the final stages of pregnancy can cause serious complications for the mother and baby.Breastfeeding mothers should not take acetylsalicylic acid without medical advice.

Notes

ASS STADA® 100 mg enteric-coated tablets with the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid are used to reduce the risk of blood clots forming and thus prevent the following diseases: further heart attacks, further temporary insufficient blood flow in the brain (TIA: transient ischemic attack) or further strokes, provided cerebral hemorrhage has been ruled out, problems of the cardiovascular system in patients with stable or unstable angina pectoris (pain in the...chest area).Also used to prevent blood clots from forming after certain types of heart surgery to dilate or keep blood vessels open.This medicine is not suitable for emergency situations.It can only be taken for prevention.No prescription is required for this product.
