General information

Proff® pain capsules are a medicine that contains the active ingredient ibuprofen.It is used for the short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever.The capsules are available in a practical soft capsule form and are suitable for adults, teenagers and children aged 12 and over.

No prescription is required for this product.The pain capsules contain 400 mg of ibuprofen per capsule and are easy to swallow.They are used to treat headaches, toothaches, period pains, fever and to relieve the acute headache phase of migraines with and without aura and tension headaches.

Active ingredients and ingredients

One soft capsule of Proff® pain capsules contains 400 mg ibuprofen as the active ingredient.The other ingredients include poloxamer 124, propylene glycol (E 1520), macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, gelatin, glycerol (E 422), water, as well as the dyes titanium dioxide (E 171) and indigo carmine aluminum salt (E 132).Each capsule also contains 7.84 mg of propylene glycol.

Area of application

Proff® pain capsules are used for the short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains.They are also suitable for treating the acute headache phase of migraines with and without aura and tension headaches.The capsules also have an antipyretic effect.The soft capsules are practical to use and easy to swallow.

Contraindications

Proff® pain capsules must not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.It is also not suitable for people with certain previous illnesses or in specific situations, such as unexplained hematopoietic disorders, existing or recurring gastric/duodenal ulcers or bleeding, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, cerebral hemorrhage or other active bleeding, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe heart failure, severe dehydration, in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children under 12 years of age.

Macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate can cause stomach upset and diarrhea.Simultaneous use of Proff® pain capsules with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided.

Dosage

The usual dosage for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over with a body weight of at least 40 kg is one soft capsule (400 mg ibuprofen) as a single dose.The maximum daily dose should not exceed 3 soft capsules (1200 mg ibuprofen).The soft capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid during or after a meal.There should be at least a 6 hour interval between doses.

If use is necessary for more than 3 days for fever or more than 4 days for pain, or if symptoms worsen, medical advice should be sought.

Intake

The soft capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid, such as a glass of water, during or after a meal.This is particularly recommended for patients with a sensitive stomach.It is important to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to relieve symptoms.

Patient information

It is recommended to speak to a doctor, pharmacist or healthcare professional before taking Proff® pain capsules.Older patients in particular should be monitored particularly carefully due to the increased risk of side effects such as bleeding and perforations in the gastrointestinal area.Patients with a history of gastrointestinal problems should report unusual abdominal symptoms.

Anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of a heart attack or stroke.The recommended dose and duration of treatment should not be exceeded.Patients with heart disease or risk factors should discuss this with their doctor.

Severe skin reactions are very rare but possible.At the first sign of skin rashes or mucous membrane defects, the medicine should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.Use should be avoided during chickenpox infection.

The medicine may temporarily inhibit platelet function, which may be important for patients with blood clotting disorders.If used for a long time, regular checks of liver values, kidney function and blood counts are necessary.

Prolonged use of painkillers can worsen headaches or cause kidney damage. Proff® pain capsules can impair fertility in women, but this effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.

Since the drug can cause central nervous side effects such as tiredness and dizziness in higher doses, the ability to react can be impaired.This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.In this case, you should avoid driving vehicles or operating machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Proff® pain capsules belong to a group of medicines that can affect women's fertility.This effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.

Notes

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister.Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
