Area of application

This herbal medicine is used for various liver diseases.It supports the treatment of chronic inflammatory liver diseases, liver shrinkage (cirrhosis) and liver damage caused by toxins.However, it is not suitable for the treatment of acute poisoning.

The preparation contains dry extract from milk thistle fruits as an active ingredient.One hard capsule contains 239.57-294.32 mg dry extract of milk thistle fruits (36-44: 1), which corresponds to 156 mg silymarin, calculated as silibinin (HPLC).Ethyl acetate is used as an extractant.The other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, carboxymethyl starch, sodium salt (type A) (Ph.Eur.), sodium dodecyl sulfate, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171), iron (III) oxide (E 172) and purified water.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to preparations made from milk thistle fruits, other plants from the daisy family or any of the other ingredients.The medicine should also not be taken during pregnancy.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as your doctor has told you.The usual dose for adults is 1 hard capsule twice a day.The duration of treatment should be determined by the doctor, depending on the type, severity and course of the disease.If you have any questions about use, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have taken more than you should, poisoning has not yet been reported.It is possible that the side effects may become more severe.If you take too large a quantity, you should notify a doctor who will decide on any necessary measures.

If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose next time, but continue taking it as prescribed.

Intake

Take the hard capsule whole with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.In the event of acute poisoning, you should consult a doctor immediately.If you experience signs of jaundice, such as light to dark yellow skin and yellowing of the whites of your eyes, you should also consult a doctor.Treatment does not replace avoiding liver-damaging causes such as alcohol.

The medicine has no or only a negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

The medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.It should not be taken during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies yet.
