Application

Adults and adolescents ages 12 and older can take one sachet one to three times daily, depending on the severity of constipation.It is taken independently of meals and drinks.

To prepare the solution, open the bag and pour the contents into a glass.Add 125 ml or half a glass of water and stir until the powder is completely dissolved.The solution can then be drunk.The prepared solution can be stored in the refrigerator (2°C-8°C) and used within 24 hours.

The treatment usually lasts two weeks.If constipation persists, you should contact your doctor.Longer use may be recommended for certain illnesses or medications.

The orange flavor contains sorbitol (E 420).

Mode of action

Macrogol 3350 expands as water is absorbed in the intestines, thereby increasing stool volume.This stimulates intestinal motility and softens solid stools, eventually leading to defecation.In addition, Macrogol HEXAL® Orange contains important electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, which can be lost when using laxatives.These electrolytes are balanced with long-term use.

Contraindications

Macrogol HEXAL® Orange must not be used in:

Children under 12 years of age, allergy to macrogol or any of the other ingredients, perforated intestinal wall, intestinal narrowing or obstruction, risk of intestinal perforation, severe inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon, abdominal pain with an unknown cause.

Dosage

For constipation, adults and young people aged 12 and over take the contents of one sachet, dissolved in a glass of water (approx. 125 ml), one to three times a day.It can be used without regard to meals and should normally not last longer than two weeks.

Patient information
