Mometasone-ratiopharm® hay fever spray is a nasal spray for adults for the treatment of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), provided the hay fever has been diagnosed by a doctor.Around 15% of adults in Germany will be diagnosed with hay fever during their lifetime.Those affected say they suffer greatly from the hay fever season - even for many weeks if the allergic rhinitis is severe.In order to reduce losses in daily life during the acute hay fever phase, it is recommended to use a medication that can alleviate the symptoms of allergic rhinitis.

Mometason-ratiopharm® hay fever spray relieves hay fever symptoms such as a stuffy or runny nose, local itching and the sneezing sensation typical of an allergy.The spray not only relieves the symptoms of hay fever for up to 24 hours, but also combats the inflammation caused by allergy-causing pollen.The recommended dosage is two sprays per nostril once daily.The duration of use depends on the symptoms and should be carried out in consultation with a doctor.The hay fever spray can be used both in the morning and in the evening.In contrast to other medicines for hay fever, such as:B. some antihistamines, Mometasone-ratiopharm® hay fever spray does not make you tired.

Active ingredient per 0.1 ml suspension (= 1 spray): 50 µg mometasone furoate (as monohydrate).Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, glycerol, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride, water for injections.

Contraindications

The nasal spray must not be used if you are allergic to mometasone furoate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Even if you have an untreated infection in your nose or have had nose surgery, the spray should not be used until the nose has healed.

Dosage

The recommended dose is two sprays into each nostril once daily.In some patients, the nasal spray begins to relieve symptoms within 12 hours of the first dose, but the full effect of the treatment may not be seen during the first two days.Therefore, you should continue to use the medicine regularly to achieve the full effect of the treatment.

Intake

Preparing your nasal spray for use: Your nasal spray has a protective cap that protects the nose piece and keeps it clean.Remember to take them off before using the spray and then put them back on again.If you are using the spray for the first time, you will need to prepare the bottle by activating the spray 10 times until a fine spray is created.

How to use the nasal spray: Shake the bottle gently and remove the protective cap from the nosepiece.Clean your nose.Close one nostril and insert the nosepiece into the other nostril.Tilt your head slightly forward while continuing to hold the bottle upright.Begin to breathe in gently through your nose.As you breathe in, spray a spray of fine mist into your nose by pressing down once with your fingers.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have or have ever had tuberculosis, if you have any other infection, if you are taking other medicines containing corticosteroids, both oral and injection, or if you have cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis).

Pregnancy

There is almost no information on the use of the drug in pregnant women.It is not known whether mometasone furoate passes into breast milk.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
