Mometasone-ratiopharm® Hay Fever Spray is a nasal spray for adults used to treat hay fever, also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis.This product is available without a prescription.However, the diagnosis of hay fever should be made by a doctor.In Germany, around 15% of adults will be diagnosed with hay fever during their lifetime.Those affected often suffer greatly from the symptoms, especially during the hay fever season, which for some can even last several weeks.To improve the quality of life during the acute phase of hay fever, it is advisable to use a medication that can relieve the symptoms.

Effect and application

Mometasone-ratiopharm® hay fever spray helps relieve hay fever symptoms such as a stuffy or runny nose, local itching and sneezing.The spray works for up to 24 hours and not only combats the symptoms, but also the inflammation caused by allergy-causing pollen.The recommended dosage is two sprays per nostril once daily.The duration of use should be determined in consultation with a doctor.The spray can be used both morning and evening and, unlike some antihistamines, does not make you tired.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Mometasone-ratiopharm® hay fever spray is mometasone furoate.Each actuation contains 50 micrograms of mometasone furoate.The other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, glycerol, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, polysorbate 80, benzalkonium chloride and water for injections.

Contraindications

The nasal spray must not be used if you are allergic to mometasone furoate or any of the other ingredients.Even if you have an untreated infection in your nose or have had nose surgery, the spray should not be used until the nose has healed.

Dosage

The recommended dose is two sprays into each nostril once daily.For some patients, the spray may relieve symptoms within 12 hours of the first dose, but the full effect often takes a few days.Once symptoms are under control, the dose can be reduced to one spray per nostril once daily.If there is no improvement, a doctor should be consulted who can increase the dose to a maximum of four sprays per nostril.

Application and preparation

Before the first use, the spray must be prepared by pressing it ten times.If the spray has not been used for more than 14 days, it should be prepared again with two sprays.To use, the bottle should be shaken and the protective cap removed.then close one nostril and insert the nose piece into the other.When inhaling through the nose, release a spray and repeat the process if necessary.Then clean the nose piece and put the protective cap back on.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have tuberculosis, other infections, use medicines containing corticosteroids or suffer from cystic fibrosis.During use, you should inform your doctor if you have a weakened immune system, infections of the nose or throat, or if you have been using the medicine for several months.Long-term use may cause side effects.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

There is little information about the use of the drug in pregnant women.It is not known whether mometasone furoate passes into breast milk.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
