Instructions for use of the article Tegaderm Silicone Foam Dressing 10cm x 10cm. 3M Tegaderm Silicone Foam is a foam dressing that provides ideal moist wound care and has an atraumatic silicone adhesive edge. The dressing consists of four layers and creates a moisture surrounding environment suitable for low to high exuding wounds. The foam dressing adapts to varying amounts of wound fluid and reduces the risk of maceration or dehydration. The silicone adhesive edge provides a secure hold, even on sensitive skin, and reduces the risk of trauma or skin damage. The dressing is easy to apply without touching and can be repositioned if necessary. It is also waterproof and bacteria-proof. Tegaderm Silicone Foam Dressing is indicated for weak to heavily exuding superficial to deep wounds such as leg ulcers, decubitus ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome, burns, split skin sites, lacerations, abrasions and neuropathic ulcers. During application, the dressing is held in place by the adhesive-free flap and the backing film is removed. The dressing is then positioned over the wound and applied by gently pressing the silicone adhesive edge. The paper spokes are removed from the centre towards the outer edge so as not to stretch the dressing and skin. The transparent film of the dressing ensures minimal curling of the dressing edges. The dressing can be released and repositioned without loss of adhesion due to its special silicone adhesive edge. The Tegaderm silicone foam dressing can remain on the wound for up to seven days, depending on the type of wound, the amount of wound fluid and the clinical picture. A dressing change is indicated when the exudate reaches the edges of the foam pad or threatens to leak.
