Application

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The first dose is taken at the beginning of the treatment of acute diarrhea.After that, you should take the repeat dose after each unformed stool.The recommended maximum daily dose must not be exceeded.

The recommended dose is:

Adults: initial dose 2 tablets, repeat dose 1 tablet after each unformed stool, maximum daily dose 4 tablets within 24 hours.

Adolescents from 12 years: first dose 1 tablet, repeat dose 1 tablet after each unformed stool, maximum daily dose 4 tablets within 24 hours.

Do not use the medicine for longer than 2 days without medical advice.Imodium® acute Duo is available as a pack of 6 or 12 tablets.

Notes

Contains benzyl alcohol and maltodextrin (contains glucose).Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: 1 tablet contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride and simeticon equivalent to 125 mg dimeticon.

Other ingredients: calcium hydrogen phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) (Ph. Eur.), acesulfame potassium, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich], artificial vanilla flavor (contains maltodextrin, propylene glycol, ethanol and benzyl alcohol).

Area of application

Imodium acute Duo is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over to treat acute diarrhea when abdominal cramps, a bloated stomach and flatulence also occur.

Loperamide hydrochloride reduces diarrhea by slowing increased intestinal activity.In addition, it increases the absorption of water and salts from the intestines.Simeticon causes the gas bubbles that cause cramps and bloating to break down in the intestines.

Treatment with loperamide for longer than 2 days may only be carried out under a doctor's prescription and follow-up.

Intake

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if your symptoms persist or worsen.Severe diarrhea can lead to large losses of fluid, sugar and salt.You need to make up for fluid loss by drinking more fluids than usual.Please ask your pharmacist about electrolyte solutions that can compensate for your sugar and salt losses.

This medicine only treats the symptoms of diarrhea.It is possible that in some cases the cause of your diarrhea may require treatment.

Do not take this medicine for any purpose other than its intended use and never take more than the recommended amount.Serious heart problems (including a fast or irregular heartbeat) have been observed in patients who have taken too much loperamide hydrochloride, the active ingredient in this medicine.

Usually the symptoms of acute diarrhea disappear within 2 days.If symptoms persist for a long time, stop taking this product and consult a doctor.

Children under 12 years of age must not take this medicine.

This medicine may cause dizziness, tiredness and sleepiness.If this occurs to you, do not drive or use machines.

Pregnancy
