Biotin beta® 5 is a medicine that is used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin of the B group.It plays a special role for the skin, hair and nails and is necessary as a cofactor for the formation of numerous enzymes.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Biotin beta® 5 tablets are used to prevent and treat biotin deficiency.This also includes the treatment of biotin deficiency in the very rare biotin-dependent multiple carboxylase deficiency.For prevention, less than 0.2 mg of biotin per day is sufficient.

Mode of action

Biotin is involved in many metabolic processes, including carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism.It promotes cell growth, activates metabolism and supports the formation of new hair roots and nail beds.

Biotin beta® 5 tablets contain biotin as the active ingredient.One tablet contains 5 mg of biotin.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, povidone K 30 and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Biotin beta® 5 tablets must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to biotin or any of the other ingredients of the drug.

Dosage

The recommended dose for the prevention and treatment of biotin deficiency and for the treatment of multiple carboxylase deficiency is 1 to 2 tablets (corresponding to 5 to 10 mg of biotin) daily.The duration of use depends on the normalization of biotin levels in the blood and the progression of the underlying disease.In the case of a biotin-dependent, multiple carboxylase deficiency, it is taken for life.

Intake

Take the tablets whole with enough liquid, such as a glass of water.
