KETOconazole Blade 20 mg/g Shampoo is a medicinal shampoo for the prevention and treatment of infections of the scalp caused by the fungus Pityrosporum, such as seborrhoeic dermatitis (greasy, scaly inflammation of the scalp and other skin regions) or dandruff (pityriasis capitis). The active ingredient ketoconazole inhibits the spread of the fungal infection and fights the cause of dandruff. The shampoo also contains the caring excipient dexpanthenol. KETOconazole Blade can also be used as a preventive measure after acute therapy. During application, the hair and scalp are thoroughly wetted with water and a sufficient amount of shampoo is applied. The shampoo is left to act for 3-5 minutes and then rinsed out thoroughly. The application should be done 2x a week over a period of 2-4 weeks. For prophylaxis, it can be used 1x every 1-2 weeks. The shampoo is for external use and should not be ingested. It may cause side effects such as inflammation of the hair follicle, distortion of taste, irritation of the eye and skin reactions. People who are allergic to ketoconazole or any of the ingredients of the shampoo should not use it. The exact dosage and duration of use should be discussed with a doctor.
