Canifug cream

Canifug Cream is a medicine for the treatment of fungal skin infections and vaginal mycoses caused by Candida.No prescription is required for this product.

The active ingredient clotrimazole in the cream penetrates the affected skin layers and fights the fungus there, killing it or inhibiting its growth.

Area of application

The cream is used to treat fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and other pathogens such as Malassezia furfur.These include:

Mycoses of the feet, between toes and fingers, on the nail fold and in connection with nail mycoses.Skin diseases that are additionally infected with canesten-sensitive pathogens.Mycoses of the skin and skin folds, superficial candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, infections with Corynebacterium minutissimum and seborrheic dermatitis with microbial involvement.Infections of the labia and adjacent areas caused by yeast fungi as well as inflammation of the glans and foreskin in men caused by yeast fungi.

10 mg clotrimazole.Excipients: (RS)-2-Octyldodecan-1-ol, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, sodium citrate 2-water, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, water, purified, benzyl alcohol.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always use the medicine exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, apply the cream thinly to the affected skin areas 1-3 times a day and rub it in.A strand of ointment approximately ½ cm long is usually sufficient for an area approximately the size of a palm.

Before each use, you should wash the affected skin areas so that the loose skin flakes are removed.Afterwards you should dry the skin thoroughly.

If the woman's labia and adjacent areas are infected, apply the cream 1-3 times a day to the relevant skin areas.

The cream is also recommended for the simultaneous treatment of inflammation of the partner's glans and foreskin caused by yeast fungi.

The duration of treatment depends on the extent and location of the disease.In order to achieve complete healing, you should not stop the treatment after the symptoms have subsided, but rather continue the treatment consistently for at least 4 weeks.

Pityriasis versicolor generally heals in 1-3 weeks and erythrasma in 2-4 weeks.In the case of athlete's foot, treatment should be continued for approximately 2 weeks after all signs of the disease have disappeared, despite rapid subjective improvement.Candida vulvitis and Candida balanitis heal in 1-2 weeks.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Canesten cream is too strong or too weak.

The consequences of using too large amounts of the cream are not known;there are no reports on this.

Next time, do not use a larger amount of cream, but continue the treatment as recommended.

In order to achieve complete healing of the fungal infection and prevent a relapse, you should not stop or interrupt the treatment prematurely without consulting your doctor.

Intake

Apply the cream thinly to the affected skin areas and rub it in.

Patient information

Change towels, underwear and stockings that come into contact with the affected area of skin every day.Even this simple measure supports healing and prevents transmission to other parts of the body and people.

No special precautions are required.

Pregnancy

If you use the cream as described in the dosage instructions or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist, the active ingredient clotrimazole will only be absorbed into the body in very small quantities;A systemic effect is therefore not to be expected.

For reasons of caution, clotrimazole may only be used during pregnancy when used in the vagina after an appropriate benefit/risk assessment by the treating doctor.

Because of the low absorption when applied to the skin or mucous membranes, there is probably no risk associated with breastfeeding for the infant.During breastfeeding, the cream should not be used directly on the milk-producing breast.
