What is Synofen?

Synofen is a pain reliever that combines the active ingredients paracetamol and ibuprofen.Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg paracetamol and 200 mg ibuprofen.This combination provides greater pain relief than comparable doses of each active ingredient.Synofen is suitable for adults aged 18 and over and is available without a prescription.

How does Synofen work?

Synofen works quickly, strongly and is well tolerated.The effect begins after just 15 minutes and lasts at least 8 hours.Paracetamol provides quick pain relief, while ibuprofen ensures a long-lasting effect.Both active ingredients are contained in a low dosage, which minimizes the risk of side effects and interactions.

Who is Synofen suitable for?

Synofen is suitable for people who want fast, strong or well-tolerated pain relief.It is particularly suitable for the treatment of mild to moderate pain that cannot be relieved by using ibuprofen or paracetamol alone.

How is Synofen dosed?

Adults can take one film-coated tablet up to three times a day.There should be an interval of at least 6 hours between each dose.No more than six tablets may be taken in a 24-hour period.It is recommended that Synofen be taken with food to reduce the chance of side effects.

What ingredients are contained in Synofen?

The active ingredients in Synofen are paracetamol and ibuprofen.Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg paracetamol and 200 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are corn starch, crospovidone (type A) (Ph.Eur.), highly dispersed silicon dioxide, povidone K30, pre-gelatinized starch (corn), talc, stearic acid (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], poly(vinyl alcohol), macrogol 3350 and titanium dioxide (E171).Synofen is free of lactose, gluten and ingredients of animal origin.

Contraindications

Synofen must not be taken if you are allergic to ibuprofen, paracetamol or any of the other ingredients.Synofen should also not be used if you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol, allergic reactions to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, cerebral bleeding, blood formation disorders, severe heart, liver or kidney failure, severe dehydration, during the last three months of pregnancy or if you are younger than 18 years.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, medicines should only be taken after consulting a doctor.Synofen must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy.If taken for a short time in the recommended dosage while breastfeeding, breastfeeding does not need to be interrupted.
