Area of application

Nystatin Holsten FTA is an agent used to treat fungal infections, particularly yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract.These infections often occur as a result of therapy with antibiotics, cytostatics or corticosteroids.The product is an antifungal and is used for topical intestinal treatment.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Nystatin Holsten FTA is nystatin, with a dosage of 500,000 IU per film-coated tablet.The other ingredients include lactose monohydrate, cellulose powder, carboxymethyl starch sodium, carboxymethyl cellulose sodium, povidone K25, colloidal silicon dioxide, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, basic butyl methacrylate copolymer, sodium lauryl sulfate, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, Ponceau 4R (E124) and carmoisin aluminum varnish(E122).

Contraindications

Nystatin Holsten FTA must not be used if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient nystatin or any of the other ingredients.It is not suitable for the treatment of systemic fungal infections.Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.

Dosage and application

The usual dose for adults and children aged 6 and over is 1 film-coated tablet 3 times a day, which is taken whole after meals with a little liquid.The duration of use is usually 2 weeks or as long as treatment with medications that promote yeast growth continues.

Side effects

Storage

Mode of action

The active ingredient nystatin damages the outer covering of fungi, the so-called cell membrane.As a result, the shell loses some of its functions, cell components escape and the cell can dissolve.Depending on the concentration, the growth of the fungi is inhibited or killed directly.
