ASS AL Protect contains the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid, which acts as a platelet aggregation inhibitor in low doses.Platelets are small blood components that promote blood clotting and can cause thrombosis.A blood clot in an artery can interrupt blood flow and reduce oxygen supply, which can lead to heart attack, angina or stroke.

Areas of application

ASS AL Protect is used to reduce the risk of blood clots and to prevent the following diseases: heart attack, stroke and problems of the cardiovascular system in patients with stable or unstable angina pectoris.It is also used to prevent blood clots after certain heart surgery procedures.This medicine is not suitable for emergency situations and is for prevention purposes only.

Dosage and application

Adults usually take 100 mg (1 tablet) once daily.The maximum daily dose is 300 mg.Elderly patients should use the medication with caution and treatment should be reviewed regularly.Children and adolescents under the age of 16 may only take the medication according to a doctor's prescription.The tablets should be taken whole with sufficient liquid and should not be chewed or crushed in order to obtain the enteric coating.

Side effects

Possible side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.Microbleeds in the gastrointestinal area or ulcers can rarely occur.Skin hypersensitivity reactions are also possible.If you experience any symptoms, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

ASS AL Protect must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients, have ulcers in the digestive tract, have an increased tendency to bleed, or have kidney or liver failure.Caution is advised in cases of bronchial asthma, heart failure, impaired kidney or liver function and a tendency to gout attacks.Children under 16 years of age can only take the medication as prescribed by a doctor.

Composition

The active ingredient is acetylsalicylic acid.Each tablet contains 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, stearic acid, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer, polysorbate 80, sodium dodecyl sulfate, triethyl citrate and talc.

Storage

The medicine should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C and kept in the original packaging protected from moisture.It must be kept out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date stated on the package.
