Instructions for use of Calcivit D effervescent tablets

Calcivit D effervescent tablets are a medicine that is used to prevent and treat calcium deficiency and to support therapy for osteoporosis.It contains the active ingredients calcium carbonate and colecalciferol (vitamin D3).This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Calcivit D is used for proven calcium and vitamin D3 deficiencies and to support the treatment of osteoporosis.It can also be used to treat rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The effervescent tablets contain 1,500 mg calcium carbonate, equivalent to 600 mg calcium, and 4 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate, equivalent to 400 IU vitamin D3.The other ingredients include all-rac-alpha-tocopherol, malic acid, citric acid, colloidal silicon dioxide, maltodextrin, medium chain triglycerides, sodium ascorbate, sodium carbonate, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, saccharin sodium, starch, modified (corn), sucrose and lemon flavor.

Dosage and application

Adults usually take an effervescent tablet twice a day, which is dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.It is important not to exceed the recommended dose and to follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Calcivit D can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include increased calcium levels in the blood, increased calcium excretion in the urine, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, itching, rash and hives.In rare cases, allergic reactions may occur.

Contraindications

Calcivit D must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredients, if you have elevated calcium levels in the blood or urine, if you have kidney stones, calcium deposits in the kidneys, impaired kidney function, hyperfunction of the parathyroid glands, myeloma, bone metastases, sarcoidosis and vitamin D overdose.The medicine is not intended for children and adolescents.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D.During breastfeeding, calcium and vitamin D pass into breast milk, so you should consult your doctor if the child is already receiving products containing vitamin D.

Storage

The medicine should be protected from heat, moisture and light and kept out of the reach of children.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
