Instructions for use of Cloderm cream 1%
Cloderm Cream 1% is a broad-spectrum antifungal used to treat fungal skin infections.These infections can be caused by dermatophytes, yeasts such as Candida species, molds and other pathogens such as Malassezia furfur.Infections caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum, which lead to erythrasma, can also be treated with this cream.
The cream contains the active ingredient clotrimazole as well as various excipients such as sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, benzyl alcohol, purified water, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol and 2-octyl-1-dodecanol.No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
Cloderm Cream 1% is used for various fungal infections of the skin, including mycoses of the feet, skin and skin folds, pityriasis versicolor, erythrasma and superficial candidiasis.
Application and dosage
The cream should be applied thinly to the affected skin areas 2-3 times a day and rubbed in.A small amount of cream (approx. 1/2 cm strand length) is enough for an area about the size of a palm.The duration of treatment depends on the extent and location of the disease and should be continued until complete healing, usually at least 4 weeks.
For pityriasis versicolor, treatment usually lasts 1-3 weeks, for erythrasma 2-4 weeks.In the case of athlete's foot, treatment should be continued for about 2 weeks after the signs of the disease have disappeared in order to prevent relapses.
Side effects
Skin reactions such as burning or stinging can often occur.If you are hypersensitive to cetostearyl alcohol, allergic skin reactions may occur.Benzyl alcohol can also cause allergic reactions.
Contraindications and precautions
Cloderm Cream 1% must not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole, benzyl alcohol or any of the other ingredients.If you are hypersensitive to cetostearyl alcohol, a dosage form that does not contain cetostearyl alcohol should be used.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Cloderm cream 1%, especially if you are taking other medicines or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.Clotrimazole should not be used in early pregnancy out of caution.
Storage
Keep the cream out of the reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.After first opening, the cream has a shelf life of 6 months.Do not throw away the medicine via wastewater, but take it to the pharmacy for disposal.
