General information about Allergoval capsules
Allergoval capsules contain the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate, which has anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects. This medication is a prophylactic anti-allergic agent and mast cell stabilizer. No prescription is required for this product.
Indications
Allergoval capsules are used for food allergies manifesting as eczema, hives (urticaria), Quincke's edema, itching, and gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. They may also be used for asthma and rhinitis when food allergens are the primary triggering factors.Note: Allergoval capsules are not suitable for treating acute asthma attacks.
Active ingredients and excipients
Each Allergoval capsule contains 100 mg of sodium cromoglicate as the active ingredient.Additionally, the capsule contains the following excipients: gelatin, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and titanium dioxide.
Contraindications
Allergoval capsules must not be used if you are hypersensitive to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients of the medication. The use of Allergoval capsules cannot currently be recommended for infants in the first two months of life (or for a correspondingly longer period in the case of premature infants).
Dosage and administration
The usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older is 2 capsules four times daily (equivalent to a total of 800 mg of sodium cromoglicate).Children aged two to fourteen years receive one capsule four times daily (corresponding to a total of 400 mg sodium cromoglicate). For infants and toddlers between two months and two years of age, the daily dose is 20-40 mg/kg of body weight; ideally, this should be administered in equal individual doses before each meal. The capsules should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals, either swallowed whole with a little water or with the contents dissolved in 2-3 tablespoons of hot water.Doses should be taken at regular intervals.
