Instructions for use of Allergoval capsules

Allergoval capsules contain the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate and are used for food allergies.These can manifest themselves as eczema, hives, Quincke's edema, itchy skin, gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, as well as asthma and nasal catarrh if food allergens are the main trigger.However, the capsules are not suitable for treating acute asthma attacks.

Active ingredient and mode of action

Sodium cromoglicate has anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects.It stabilizes the mast cells, which release messenger substances during allergic reactions that lead to inflammation.This means it can help prevent allergic reactions, but is not suitable for treating acute attacks.

Allergoval capsules are used for food allergies, which can manifest themselves through various symptoms.These include skin reactions such as eczema and hives, gastrointestinal disorders and respiratory problems such as asthma and nasal catarrh.

Contraindications

Allergoval capsules must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients.In addition, its use in infants in the first two months of life is not recommended.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the medicine should only be used if the doctor considers it necessary.During breastfeeding, use should only be carried out after carefully weighing up the benefits and risks.

Side effects

Possible side effects include nausea, rash, and joint pain.In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin redness, hives, facial swelling and severe anaphylactic reactions may occur.These side effects usually subside after stopping the medication.

Dosage and application

Adults and young people aged 15 and over take 2 capsules four times a day, children aged two to fourteen years take one capsule four times a day.For infants and young children, the daily dose is 20-40 mg/kg body weight, given in several doses before meals.The capsules should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals, either swallowed whole with water or the contents dissolved in hot water.

Overdose and missed doses

There are no known symptoms of poisoning in the event of an overdose.If a dose is missed, the next dose should be taken as usual without taking a double dose.

Storage

Allergoval capsules should be kept dry and out of the reach of children.The expiry date on the packaging should be noted.

Composition

Each capsule contains 100 mg of sodium cromoglicate as the active ingredient as well as the excipients gelatin, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide.
