Area of application

Vitagamma® Vitamin D3 1,000 IU tablets are a vitamin preparation that is used to prevent rickets, to prevent vitamin D deficiency in healthy people without absorption disorders and to support the treatment of osteoporosis.The preparation is also suitable for preventing rickets in premature babies.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The tablets contain 10 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate, including 0.025 mg colecalciferol (vitamin D3, 1,000 IU).Other ingredients include gelatin, sucrose, corn starch, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, α-tocopherol, colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone K30, croscarmellose sodium, talc and long-chain partial glycerides.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to colecalciferol or any of the other ingredients, if you have an increased calcium concentration in the blood or urine, or if you have pseudohypoparathyroidism.If there is a tendency to form calcium-containing kidney stones, impaired excretion of calcium and phosphate via the kidneys, treatment with benzothiadiazine derivatives and immobilized patients, the drug should be used with caution.

Dosage

The recommended dose to prevent rickets and if there is an apparent risk of vitamin D deficiency is 1/2 tablet daily (corresponding to 0.0125 mg or 500 IU of vitamin D3).To support the treatment of osteoporosis and to prevent rickets in premature babies, 1 tablet daily (corresponding to 0.025 mg or 1000 IU of vitamin D3) is recommended.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Intake

Adults should take the tablets with enough liquid.For infants and small children, it is recommended to divide the tablet into as small pieces as possible, crush it finely with the back of a spoon and mix it with a little water on a teaspoon.It is best to give this suspension directly into the child's mouth during a meal.Adding the suspended tablet to a bottle or porridge meal is not advisable.

Patient information

In patients with impaired renal function, the effect on calcium and phosphate balance should be monitored.Daily doses above 500 IU/d require regular monitoring of calcium levels in the blood and urine as well as kidney function.There is no evidence that the drug has an influence on the ability to drive or concentrate.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Daily doses of up to 500 IU/d are harmless during pregnancy.Daily doses of more than 500 IU/d should only be taken according to strict indications in order to avoid overdoses.
