Contraindications

H&S Senna leaf N must not be used for intestinal obstruction, acute inflammatory diseases of the intestine such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or appendicitis, for abdominal pain of unknown cause, for severe fluid deficiency in the body with water and salt losses, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and for children under 10 years of age.

Precautions for use and warnings

Taking stimulating laxatives beyond short-term use can lead to an increase in intestinal sluggishness.H&S Senna leaves N should only be used if the constipation cannot be resolved through a change in diet or swelling preparations.In incontinent adults, prolonged skin contact with the feces should be avoided by changing the container after drinking H&S senna leaves N.

Interactions with other agents

With continued use or misuse, potassium deficiency can increase the effect of certain heart medications or influence the effect of drugs against cardiac arrhythmias.Potassium losses can be increased by simultaneous use of certain diuretics, cortisone and cortisone-like substances or licorice root.

Dosage instructions, type and duration of application

Adults and children aged 10 and over should drink a cup of the tea infusion prepared as follows twice a day: Pour boiling water over a filter bag and let it steep, covered, for about 10 minutes.If possible, drink the tea infusion in the evening before going to bed.The effect usually occurs after 8-12 hours.The laxative must not be used for a long period of time (more than 1-2 weeks) without medical advice.

Overdose

In the event of an accidental or intentional overdose, painful intestinal cramps and severe diarrhea with loss of water and salt as well as possibly severe gastrointestinal complaints can occur.In the event of an overdose, a doctor should be notified immediately.

Underdosing or forgetting to use

Forgotten or under-dosed applications should not be made up, but the application should be continued as planned.

Side effects

In individual cases, cramp-like gastrointestinal complaints can occur.In these cases a dose reduction is necessary.Decomposition products can cause the urine to turn intensely yellow or red-brown, but this is temporary and harmless.With chronic use or abuse, increased loss of water and salts, excretion of protein and red blood cells in the urine, and pigment deposits in the intestinal mucosa can occur.

The expiry date on this pack is printed.Do not use this pack after this date.Store the medicine in the original packaging to protect the contents from light and moisture.Do not store above 25°C.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.

Mode of action

The ingredients come from the senna plant and act as a natural mixture.Both senna leaves and the fruits are laxatives. They stimulate the movements of the large intestine and inhibit the recovery of water and salts from the intestine, so that the increase in volume causes the intestinal wall to become more stretched and emptying can occur earlier and more easily.

Important notes

The urine may become discolored.Only use laxative medicines for a short time without a doctor's recommendation.Long-term use may lead to chronic constipation and/or other problems.If there is no success after short-term use, contact your doctor or pharmacist.Attention: Laxatives are not suitable for weight loss.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with a new medicine that you are already using.
