Acticoat Flex 3 is an antimicrobial wound dressing characterized by high-dose and continuous silver release.This wound dressing uses a patented silver application process and can release silver quickly and in high doses.This creates an effective barrier against bacterial contamination for up to three days.Acticoat Flex 3 is effective against pathogenic microorganisms and reduces the risk of infection, thereby supporting rapid wound healing.The bandage adapts to the patient's movements and is suitable for complex wound situations, resulting in a high level of comfort.The non-sticky surface minimizes pain when changing dressings.

Acticoat Flex 3 is an extremely supple, single-layer bandage that is also suitable for difficult wounds.The flexible material allows full contact with the wound surface.The bandage adapts to the patient's movements and therefore offers a high level of comfort.The long-lasting release of high-dose silver provides an antimicrobial barrier.The risk of germs colonizing the wound is reduced, thereby preventing infection.The antimicrobial barrier remains effective for up to three days, meaning fewer dressing changes are necessary.The wound dressing minimizes the risk of sticking to the wound, which means an atraumatic and painless dressing change for the patient.Acticoat Flex 3 can be used as a wound contact layer in combination with negative pressure wound therapy for a period of up to three days.

Acticoat Flex 3 has been proven to be effective against more than 150 types of germs.Laboratory tests show that bacteria are killed within 30 minutes.The dressing reduces wound odor caused by bacteria and prevents the formation of biofilms, such as those caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.It is effective in vitro against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as fungal pathogens.In vitro, Acticoat Flex 3 is also effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as Pseudomonas, MRSA and VRE .Depending on the amount of exudate, secondary fixation can be carried out using, for example, Allevyn foam dressings or film dressings such as Opsite Flexifix.The formulation is latex-free.

Areas of application

Acticoat Flex 3 is indicated as an antimicrobial protective dressing to cover wounds that penetrate part or all of the skin layers.These include, for example, burns, implantation sites, surgical sites, pressure ulcers, venous ulcers and diabetic ulcers.Acticoat Flex 3 can be used on infected wounds.In this case, the infection should be inspected and treated according to applicable clinical protocols.The dressing can be used as a wound contact layer in conjunction with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) for up to three days.
